has anyone picked up this game off steam yet? it looks amazing and really challenging to play.

i heard there was a lot of AI and other bugs tho.

i know that you have to have a sick computer to not skip and lag in alot of parts of the game but you have a nice system it looks like a nice game

Yeah, not ganna play it. I have a ATI 3870, the game requires a minimum of a ATI 4850 to play.

Have you tried the demo yet?

For me there are just waaaaay to many bugs with this game to plunk down $50. A lot of guys with really good systems are getting crappy frame rates. For me personally I plan on waiting til they get all of the bugs ironed out. :)

I've played the demo and the learning curve is more like a mountain. Who ever did the controls was on crack, basically every button on your keyboard is used for something.

The demo has a lot of graphical errors, such as your head not being lined up with your neck. I don't know if the release has these problems. The voice acting is horrible at best. I really hope it was fixed with release.

It seems like it have potential but not yet.

Game looks great, but don't know if I would be able to run it, might check the demo out, anybody have a link

You can get the demo via steam.

It also looks beautiful on high/very high. The animations arn't the best in the world though

Ive heard from a friends who has it, that its just like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but not at Chernobyl. So the bug rumors would be understandable if its just like stalker :P

This same friend told me its pretty good regardless. I plan to buy it i think. Downloading the demo now.

I bought it and I love everything about it.

There seem to be a lot less glaring bugs than in the original ArmA, and the graphics are amazing when the only real "high-end" part in my computer is a 4890. Running on a dual core, it can handle most battles with many things happening at once.

Online is about the same as ArmA 1 with a new world to play. Most of the servers are evolution or domination. Few servers run the unlocked version of either modes, and even fewer run any sort of PVP. If you want to play PVP (and trust me, you will after playing against AI with expert marksmanship), jump on any of the two AToW servers (just filter for atow), ones in the US, and ones in the UK. PVP is quite fun, and gives you a more rewarding feeling than dropping a few AI. IC Arma, and AToW (Arma Theater of War) will be starting their ArmAII campaigns within a month or 2 once they have all the appropriate plugins done and ready.

The Campaign itself is a bit... odd. The voice acting makes me want to tear my ears out, and the AI makes me facedesk, but it's a good time killer if you're bored. The mission editor really shines, and is quite a bit better than the old one in ArmA, making SP missions is a sinch, just plop a few units, place a few triggers, throw a tank in the mix, and it's a party.

In conclusion, ArmA is an absolutely fantastic game, with good gameplay, graphics, and very negligible bugs.

P.S. This isn't an advertisement for a different clan, but joining a tournement such as AToW is a magnificent experience, and gives you a much more involved feeling with its heavy teamplay based warfare. They run a teamspeak server, plus a server for pubs and a server for the tourney itself. Try it out here! (battle days are every sunday @ 17:00GMT). Also, feel free to PM me with any questions about the game.

just got this game off steam...i cannot wait till the store release of july 7th. the first thing i encountered was a graphics glitch off a camo next which left the imprint of the net on my screen. maybe its just a random fluke but the game is running amazing on high settings! maybe as i get more into the game ill post some more updates.

i highly recommend this to anyone that is seeking a highly intense and realistic war simulation!

I'm going to try the demo when I get home. I have a really beefy gaming rig. I'll let you guys know how it runs with my system specs then.

The game runs great on my computer. I have a decent gaming rig and most of my settings are on high.

The bugs are there and there are problems with the A.I. (friendly helicopter pilots like trees too much).

It's more of a war simulation than fps run and gun. You have to focus on strategy and you get a squad to order around so you have to worry about them. If one of them dies you have to start over from your last save.

after playing the demo i can agree the graphics are quite impressive on my video card.

On the negative side of things, some of the voice acting is pathetic, and the controls and responsiveness is sluggish and sloppy.

understand the game play is tactical and not run and gun. it is very challenging to pick up at first. but i think youll grow on it.

i cannot make the connection to STALKER and this game. someone explain it to me!
