Shooting in spawn...

1. It's unnecessary. Your gun WILL work, there's no sense testing it.

2. It wastes ammo. I've seen players shooting off rounds running out of spawn, and then yelling for ammo when they get to the fighting.

3. It's just plain niosy.

4 It's distracting. If a player has to turn around to see if it's a bad guy flanking or some yahoo with an itchy finger and gets killed, then the player that did the shooting while running out of spawn just got a teammate killed, and possibly a flag/game lost.

5. It scares the children and annoys the old folks.

6. It's confusing. Players use sound to tell where the fighting is, and especially those with headphones can tell from listening to gunfire and watching the death messages who got killed where. Unnecessary gunfire makes it tougher to do so.

7. It causes unnecessary team action. Players in set positions protecting flags or high traffic areas will shift positions to react to gunfire behind them may cause the other team to cap a flag or take control of a control point.

8. TAGGED PLAYER WHO DO SO SET A BAD EXAMPLE. Players with any level of eGO who do so are training pub players that negative behaviours and bad habits are allowed.

9. Smoking kills. Unnecessary use of smoke grenades gives the enemy cover, and blocks MGs and snipers vision. It also causes players with less than perfect computer specs to loose framerate or cause lag spikes on their machines.

10. It affects the entire team. Anything that you do that causes a teammate to get killed or fail to protect a flag, or even your back is not team friendly. The reason we play DoD and not CS is because it's a TEAM oriented game, not a "ME" oriented game.

11. Sprays are not targets. Shooting another players spray is a good way to start an ego fight. Some players will take it personally and figure out some way to retaliate. This usually escalates.

12. Shovels are for digging holes. Either in the ground, or in a bad guys head. Shoveling a team mate (especially a setup MG or sniper), makes absolutely no sense at all.

Well I agree with you. It is annoying and all the other above things you listed, but people have a right to play the way they feel fit. As long as they are not breaking the rules we as people who don't like that are just going to have to deal with it.

While I agree, it is not against the rules. We preach play how you want to play,so if someone wants to run through a clip when they respawn...just forget to give them ammo 30 seconds later when they ask :D

While I empathize, I really don't think the following is true:

"TAGGED PLAYER WHO DO SO SET A BAD EXAMPLE. Players with any level of eGO who do so are training pub players that negative behaviours and bad habits are allowed."

It makes it sound like you're trying to make that a rule of some sort, or warning.

Nothing you have stated are negative behaviors (or against the rules for that matter). Sure, it can be annoying or distracting, but I wouldn't go as far as looking down on others admins for just goofing around/having fun.

If it was a competitive scrim, then I could see how the behaviors would affect the performance of the team, but being a public server I see absolutely no problem or issue with it.

Now I agree with this 100%

ive had to deal with this in ava alot recently, people just sitting in german spawn with mg not doing anything, and pubs start complaining about it

I only dont like it whenever Rockets and MGs waste their ammo, and then come begging for ammo

"No way man, Just go die if you want more ammo."

Behaving in disrespectful ways just because there are no rules against it is a great way to get more rules shoved down your throat. You can only argue the rules so far before you become bogged down in the gray areas. To be honest the rules mean very little. It's the ideals behind the rules that matter and the rules are only there to guide those are who are borderline with our ideals and provide a concrete framework for ridding the community of those that disagree with our ideals.

I strongly advise everyone to adhere to our ideals and let the Council argue the rules. As for the rest of us, our job is to lead even if you are just an (e).

Anyone who has known a natural leader will say the same things about them. They would say that a leader never ask you to do anything they would not do. They would say that a leader will admit their mistakes . They will say the a leader sets a social and moral example be sticking to their ideals.

I joined eGO because I liked what I saw on the servers and what I saw in the leadership. It was the essence of the ideals in a simple package with a clear framework for getting things done. I will fight and fight hard for these ideals because they create something that is very hard to find in life: A fun, respectful sporting environment.

There I said it. To me this not just a game. It's a sport. A team sport. To me any activity that is detrimental to the team is detrimental to the servers. At the same time I know people need to have fun and goof off now them. Just do your best to never let your fun ruin a team mate's fun. Have fun in the spirit of the rules, not in the letter of the rules.

Thanks for bringing this up BP.

Grow up!

I agree with Bettie and X-KP. We should respect the "serious" players first, not the immature distracting ones. The spirit of the game is about consideration towards others. Most of the time when a person fires in spawn and/or throws smoke they are looking for attention. Don't do it! Don't be selfish and attention grabbing. Games have unwritten rules that deal with being a good sport and one of those rules is do not distract others from the spirit of the game. DODS is one of those games where the team comes first and we should not have to remind anyone of that fact unless they are an immature little brat who still wears diapers. You e's had better learn that to admin you have to take a stand and not give in to that anything goes attitude. Any of you still in diapers?

I shoot random stuff, punch random stuff, shoot sprays, heck i just shoot alot! Big deal if people shoot junk as long as they are not deliberately annoying other players. I dont think its fair to assume that people who like to shoot things arent team players or are just trying to annoy others. I cant remember the amount of times ive given ammo to other players after they had a good random-shoot-at-nothing rambo spree then having them save the whole team when we get serious. In the end as long as no one is deliberately throwing smoke to annoy people or anything else that interrupts other people play its A-ok partner.

Remember DoD is a GAME so as long as you have fun and dont ruin other peoples fun i think its just fine and dandy, besides when i punch people in the back of the face it just shows them that i love them!

I believe that as long as people are being respectful and following the rules, then there should be a tolerance for these behaviors. A test of leadership is using the influence you wield to get people to act in a team-oriented fashion. As long as we are prefessional and considerate, we can lead by example. I believe this will be the best way to accomplish these goals. Good post Bettie!

One more thing, i saw a bunch of you all post "well if they waste ammo ill forget to give them some" etc etc. To me thats completely hypocritical. The main point that you guys were arguing is that random shooting takes away from the team aspect of the game, however deliberately holding back ammo is to me is cowardly, and underhanded. Take the high road and give them the ammo, in the end you might snag that mg or schrek once they die, then youll think to yourself "well golly i wish i had been a good team player and given that fellow some ammo!"

Remember you represent the best clan known to man kind, so start acting like it, yeah you can slack off every now and then (like i do) but show everyone that you have what it takes to lead and lead by example.

Ive played with a lot of you and i know that atleast J-Wall, X-KP, Dr. Compton, Mongo and especially BettiePage know that i have their back when the going gets tough!
