new to dod:2

as the title says, im new. i played dod before hl2 came out and considered my self very good. then i stopped playing and havent touched it in almost 2 years. now dod:s is blowing me away and owning me from all sorts of uncomfortable angles. help!


any pointers from both the axis and allies side would be helpful. really in general any pointers to not being bad are very welcomed.

i think you could start out as a sniper or machine gunner to bring ur confidence up.

Go for assault if you cannot get an MG. Until you get your aiming down that is the best choice. Also, just play and play on both sides of a map until you learn the tricks of it.

If you like to charge guys go with an assault class to get the spray down. Remember all auto guns have a decent kick back so be ready for it. If your more of a twitch gamer I say giver the k98 rifle a shot or even the grand. Aim quick, get a quick one shot off and hope you get someone. Also nade nade nade nade nade nade nade nade nade. They are your friend but can also be your worst nightmare

Go Random. Even if you don't like a class you learn its strengths and weaknesses.

Well i guess the best tip i could give you is to spectate the top players on each team. Observe how they operate and try to mimick their style. Youll get used to aiming and all of the other "minor" stuff like that.

Another tip from a Machine Gun afficianado is be gentle with the MG42 give her a few bursts to put down your foes, if you fire in bursts your '42 wont overheat. But when the going gets tough dont be a fraid to wail on your enemies with the uncomprimising power of the 8mm mauser round!

I would have to say watch the other players in the map. watch what your side is doing. see where the snipers like to sit and where the mg's like to purch. that way you know where your support is coming from.
Next take note where the other team is sitting. hot spots to watch for. maybe switch every half hour to get a feel for each side.

The best advice I can give you from one old school DoD player to another is team work. I'd rather have a good team player around than one million 100:1 KDR solo players. Your skills will come in time. Have fun and be a team player.

coming from insurgency, i understand team work is key to winning. i have been trying out all the classes and have had a great time. the more i play, the more i am picking up on skills and the maps. i cannot wait to become a valued part of this division!
