I watched a situation pop up on Flash where a pub player was being rude and using foul language. After an admin warned him several times, this player disrespected the admin. This guy said "If you ban me I'll just come raise hell on your forums." The guy also claimed that he didn't understand our rules and didn't see them anywhere. So I have a question: Can we make a vote system kinda like what our CS:S servers have, that makes you acknowledge the rules? I don't know if this has been discussed before, or if it is do-able. Thanks!

He can't claim ignorance when an admin has warned him.

I also believe warnings about foul language are periodically broadcasted now and then (Same thing as the "All eG and eGO's are admins" message). Some of our servers have the rules as the motd but most have a sponsorship ad.

I recall someone mentioned something about having the rules posted in the spawn areas in the last big meeting and that it was being looked into.

Ok, that sounds like we have a pretty decent system for communicating our standards. On a positive note, all of the admins I've played with are doing a great job. They are staying professional and ensuring that we all get to enjoy these great servers. I for one would like to say thanks to all the guys (and gals) that deal with people like the one mentioned above. I feel this is one of the reasons we have the best community in the world.

The admins do a great job of handling problems that I've seen. I don't the vote system is very good - people vote kick or ban on people for hacking and things when they are not.

I agree with Master Guns, the "all eG's and eGO's have admin" is all that should be needed for pubs. most of them know that admins are the peacekeepers of the server. It is an underlined rule that a player should respect the admin. if they repeatedly tell you not to do something and its a rule. then the pub should listen.

P.S. I know there are a few players out there that have a form of rulez spray and they put it up from time to time

I saw one of these in Donner tonight. Or at least it looked like a rules spray, but the resolution was too low to really read.

I think he meant when the server rules pop up in a chat box, it does it in CS:S and you have to hit 1 to accept, otherwise it kicks you.

i dont think its such a good idea

first of, I have seen this vote thing, and it does not work.. trust me you never get the full votes needed.

second. people always abuse it. "lets voteban drathman he sucks"
you always be getting stuff like this.

so in conclusion, with an admin always around you dont need things like this, so i doubt this idea will ever be looked at.

The best thing to do is like I said in my previous post, dont argue with the guy if he dosent listen kick him or ban him depending on the situation. If youre an e go write a report dont argue do it and after you shall have peace on your mind.

The vote thing isn't an actual vote, Its one of those command boxes, like the admin menu is, it lists the rules and you hit 1 to accept, if you don't it automatically kicks you, its like a friendly reminder of the rules. It also stops people from saying "Oh, I didnt know any of your rules" because they should read that.

Dr. Compton hit it on the head. It doesn't have anything to do with votekick or voteban, it's just a "Yes I have read the rules and will play nice." As the good doctor pointed out, this is in effect on our CS:S servers already. So there's no potential for abuse with it, if it were to be used. But you guys make some valid points. Thank you for the feedback!

Yeah, I remember before we had the rules pop-up when u first join in that window. But now it's being used as advertisment for our sponsors. but anyway, after you have warned once they know the rule. If after a second time they claim ignorance Feel free to punish as necessary.

IMHO the rules should be the first thing you see on the MOTD period, all advertisement should go below that (Unless the ad need to be first due to rights etc...) in my 10+ years playing and administering in DOD servers there has been many times where the admin gets a little over zealous, but it is ok, that is why in the servers and communities I had serve under we have an area in the forum (like we have here) were the player can come and contest the ban.

With that said, we had also had a forum in the admin side where the admin will post the ban in details and why he ban the player, and if the senior admins determine it was not grounds for issuing a ban, the ban would be lifted, now all communities do things different.
