Why do Medics hate me?

It seems when ever there is a medic near me, and i'm about to die, he just continues on healing someone with full health?

Really. One time it was a spy disguised as an engie from the other team.
I was a heavy with the intel, In my opinion an excellent choice for who to heal. :glare:
 
some medics are just noobs.

i'm in the top 300 in hl stats and i still can't get medics to heal me sometimes. you just have to prove your worth. eventually medics will catch on to "hey, if i help keep this guy alive, our team has a better chance of winning."

but the heavy with the intel thing, idk what to tell you about that, that's just sad.

well i was in the top 400 of HLStats but im 600 odd now and play medic alot.
but i went down in rank from playing other classes :P
The heavy with the intel idk what to say about that too.
And one thing to point out about spies wanting healing, uncloak god darnit.
its so annoying.
there is a thread in here about How to get healed if you want to read that. but i try to heal low healthers while keeping an eye on my main target at the same time, and they will tend to get priority due to them being a game-changer.

I don't know why medics hate you. How many toes do you have on your left foot. Some medics won't heal anyone with less than seven. It depends on what school they got their doctorate from. I know of one medic who refuses to work on anyone who still has an appendix.

Then there's the whole arrogance thing. The more arrogant you are the harder it is for a medic to see you and lock on with his medigun. Don't take my word for it. Ask Florence.

Seriously medics should prioritize. People on fire. People with red balloons. People with white balloons. The rest of their team. They should not neglect their fellow medics. For these and other helpfull tips check the link.

Bad generalizations are bad. Hlstats makes no one good, its more of a just how long you can play for type of thing, at least it seems cause mine keeps going up as well. As for medics not healing you, if you have medics that are bad on your team just try to give them advice rather then yelling at them, and some medics will heal enemy spys in an effort to grief.
 
I don't really pay that much attention to hlstats.
And last time I checked I had 5 toes on my left foot so I guess thats why.

that's not the points im making. and this will seem like im bragging again, but i feel like i play like someone that is in the top 300 and it shows. So it would seem like i would be up there with kunai, goretex, cl!ff, doomtrain (lt guy), yano, people who always seem to have 2 medics on them. that's all.

Anywho, if you want to get a medic to stick with you, or if you want to convince someone to go medic, just say, "Hey, does anyone want a lot of free points?"

Oh yeah, and also, I often say, "Can I get a medic?" into voice chat if no medics are healing me after I press E. People tend to listen more to someone actually talking than just your character's in-game voice.

Heh. I go crazy when I'm a medic, and I am able to keep EVERYONE healed pretty good. I'm the kinda medic who will put my own life in danger just to heal my teammates. I'm actually kinda obsessive. But I don't play medic much because I find the class moderately boring. :glare:

Anyway, I think I know what the secret is. Yell "medic" A LOT. Like, you need to spam in order to get the medic's attention. When I am playing, it's not always easy to get everyone who is hurt, so you target whoever is yelling "medic" the most. That is why Valve put in that different colour medic indicator. If you think you are a high priority, don't be afraid to put some spam in. But if you are say a scout running to get a health kit, and you aren't in danger, don't hit medic a bunch.

I think if you spam the "medic" button more when you really need it, you'll find you get more healing. ;)
 
When I go medic I try to get a game plan going with several other people to actually make a difference, not grab a person at random just to get waxed by a sniper. The solo artist who charges out of the spawn into a wave of enemies has better luck crapping a gold brick then getting me to follow them. Screaming medic over and over only bothers me more. The demo who hides and spams can die, so can the snipers and the heavies who hide next to a dispenser.

It's hard to pick out who needs healing when everybody is hiding from one pyro. I try to find people who are willing to actually apply the ever elusive teamwork, those are the people I heal. I only heal who is making a difference. I don't care about helping somebodies stats, I care about winning the map.

Let's see... did you do any of these things to make a medic mad at you?


  1. Spammed medic over and over even though you weren't hurt?
  2. Stole the health kit from in front of a hurt medic?
  3. Ran the wrong way when you were ubered?
  4. Talked smack about the medic's healing ability?
  5. Whined at any point during the game about anything?
  6. Repeatedly ran back into same situation that nearly got you killed in the first place?


Was the medic doing any of these things at the time?

  1. Was the medic was busy helping a heavy/soldier/demo/pyro push back the enemy?
  2. Was the medic fighting off some enemy that was trying to kill him?
  3. Was the medic in a large group of people?
  4. Was the medic covering your escape, keeping you in the clear so you could cap the intel?
  5. Was the medic actually healing some other person at the time?
  6. Was the medic separated from you by a constant stream of bullets/explosives?


Medics have priorities too ya know. #1 priority for any medic is their own health. The only thing that overrides that priority for me is helping my team win. If I'm the only one around who could defend a point, I'll gladly kill myself to kill or delay the enemy capping it. I'll risk my life to help heal someone that is nearly dead. I'll heal anyone who yells out medic and actually needs it. If you're on fire, I'll try to put it out.

What I won't do is heal some schmuck who keeps screaming for medic because they want an overheal while everyone else around them needs an actual heal. Every time someone does that, they get dropped down on my healing priority. When there are five people around me on the front lines who need a heal in a safe spot, I'm going to heal the medics, heavies, soliders, demos, and pyros first. Scouts, engineers, snipers, and spies are lower on the list cause they're not going to be the ones keeping me alive.


Of course, this is just me, there are plenty of horrible medics out there who latch onto one person like a leech. If you're not their host organism, they won't be healing you even if you're slowly burning to death in front of their eyes. Feel free to tell those medics that the next time you see them about to die, you won't be helping them stay alive either.

But please, don't lump all medics together in one group. There are good medics and bad medics, just like there are good heavies and bad heavies.
