Why do Medics hate me?

The trick to getting healed is:
1) Be aggressive. Medics need all the assist kills they can get as they don't really get points otherwise. If you're running around behind everyone, not only can the medic not see you, but he's not going to want to heal you when the soldier he's healing is racking him up points.

2) Get in front of him. Chances are if you're staring at him in the face yelling medic and he's not a total noob, he should heal you. Get right in his line of fire but read rule 3.

3) Stop running around so much. This is tricky with rule 1 and being aggressive, but if you're running around like a chicken with it's head cut off, even if the medic wanted to heal you, he probably can't lock on to you. I personally love healing scouts, they have low health when they're running towards you, but if they're running around like crazy there's no chance of getting your medigun on him.

4) This probably part of 3 but w/e, don't stand right inside another teammate, the medic can't lock on to you. Besides, clustering up like that is just begging for a pipe bomb or rocket to the face.

5) As coupon queen said, if there's tons of people trying to get a medic and they're doing their best, it might be better just to get your own health if you can to ease their burden.

6) Keep the medic alive. If you're soldier and it's just you and medic, don't rocket jump up somewhere leaving the medic by himself. You'll do way better with a medic on you anyway.

The more (or less in some cases) you can do these the better.

And a guideline to all you wannabe medics, heal everyone you can. You get way more ubercharge by healing someone with less health. Plus if it's a scout or sniper or something you can heal em up and get em back on the battlefield fairly quickly. You definitely wanna keep your heavies and soldiers healed up as best possible since they're the ones that'll really rack up points for you, but you gotta keep those support classes around up to or else they'll go run for health, making you a bigger target. As medic the more people you can keep around you the longer you'll stay alive plain and simple. Not only that but if you're healing everyone, people will be more likely to come to your aid should you come under fire. If you're just healing one guy, no one's going to help you.

Also if you're gonna heal someone heal someone. I hate when a medic starts healing me then runs away to go chain onto a heavy. Then not only did I waste time sitting there getting partially healed, I still have to go back to respawn or w/e to get health. I understand if they switch off to heal someone who's about to die, but otherwise, totally lame.

Zero is a good medic, when he plays it. I usually get good medics. Bad medics who attempt to heal me, usually die because they are noobs and I'm always in the action as a Heavy.

Lol, thanks. I'm not a great Medic (I just have fun double-ubering you and Hex), I seem to attract Medics at gravel Pit though, but not Ubers, better, Kritz. That makes me happy.

Good way to get healed? Do good. When a Medic is healing, keep him alive, sacrifice yourself if necessary, if you're running away, stay in front of him. Show him that you care for him. Its worked for me.

Clearly, the solution to everyone's problem is to play as a medic. There's nothing more intimidating than an entire team full of medics.

16 heavies? Big woop, they'll all die with enough explosives lobbed into the middle of them.

16 scouts? So very frail, so very flammable.

16 soldiers? Respectable, but they'll mostly get in each other's way.

16 demos? Most likely will go camp in a corner and/or blow themselves up.

16 spies? Oh, please.

16 pyros? Kinda scary, but easy enough to handle if you know how.

16 snipers? When have you ever heard the phrase "We can't win without more snipers"?

16 engineers? No war was ever won without an offense.

16 medics? An entire team full of invincible madmen that just won't die.

I have been healed by some medics mentioned here, all very good.

Thanks you guys.:)

i usually manage to find one good medic per game if you go out of your way to keep him alive and communicate he will prolly stay with you for the whole game.

but the main thing is communicate with the medic if your a heavy or solly you got to tell the medic when to back off a bit and what you plan on doing next so you can keep him in a safe spot. expically you got to tell them when to pop the ubers cause i really hate it when i start taking a little damage and he pops one and wasts it on like one guy or uses it while im reloading my rocket launcher.

the same goes for the medic commutation is very important tell your patient about enemies on his 6 and if your taken fire and if you break off from your patient to heal someone who called or is close to dead tell patient so doesn't run off without you thinking you have his back.

oh and whoever posted this what server do you hit up cause if someone wants a medic to team up with i will usually switch to one for them.

Check out "How to get healed"

I don't know why medics hate you. How many toes do you have on your left foot. Some medics won't heal anyone with less than seven. It depends on what school they got their doctorate from. I know of one medic who refuses to work on anyone who still has an appendix.

Then there's the whole arrogance thing. The more arrogant you are the harder it is for a medic to see you and lock on with his medigun. Don't take my word for it. Ask Florence.

Seriously medics should prioritize. People on fire. People with red balloons. People with white balloons. The rest of their team. They should not neglect their fellow medics. For these and other helpfull tips check the link.
Seriously, check this out it helps a lot, thanks Quaffer

IR? No rest...it's tirin'
The medic job... I'm sure everyone knows that not too many medics are on that player list when you first join.
Less people for a job, more work for one person.
sometimes it's more like, everyone hates medics haha...they're reasonable targets

Gonna have to go with what Woodstock said.
Just got done playing medic on Blackmesa and I was healing a pyro who had about 2 health left. He airblasted an enemy pyro into me, killed him, didn't airblast the fire that was engulfing my body, and took the medkit from me. He's on my never-ever-heal list.

NecroNancy reminded me over steam that some people don't know about the airblast. But I yelled over the mic for him to airblast me and he sorta just looked at me. AND he took my medkit while I was healing him. AND he airblasted a pyro into me in the first place! C'mon! Rant ending!

I wish I got all the medics. Having 2 medics healing me at once is well, a lucky day. However, Cliff is known to have multiple medics heal him at once. Hehe.

That's the kind of medic is the one that believes ubering Pyros and Heavies is better than ubering anything else. I hate medics like that.

hahaha, usually medic are drawn to me like gravity, but I dislike that sometimes, the reason why a lot of my medics like to heal me, is because I look out for them, for spies, when someone is shooting I usually stand in front of the medic if I see he will be shot by that round if I dodge it, protect your medic well and he will stick with you a long time.

If I have 3 medics, I cannot all protect them... so usually I just want 1, I usually say that they should heal I another player who is good too, unless it is stage 3 dustbowl defense, then I want all kritsmedics hehe

But when I play medic, sure I let some of the people burn to death but usually there is a good reason behind it, if I am a medic, I am usually with a person worthy of having a medic, if that person is damaged, I rather heal him to know that I am safe than healing a burning dude when my main-buddy is almost a goner, some people just run out and want to die, not going to argue about that, but I have a more tactical approach

But supertrooper, yeah, you are ranked 300, that isnt that high you know, usually you have a long time before medics regonize you and start healing you, I was ranked 40 when I finnaly attracted medics....

And kunai, if you ever go to dustbowl I have no problem with being your medic though, although you are never there :(

1.The best class to uber/kritz depends on the situation at hand. There is no stead fast rule on which class is best to uber.

2.Medics may not uber you because they ubered you in the past and didn't like the results.

3.Also, sometimes medics have a good chemistry with a certain player and they work as a pair for the entire round. This could also be the case. A great medic/player combo can be devastating.

4.Sometimes medics will let you die to save themselves. It is the right thing to do. Medics lives are worth more.

Play on dustbowl sometime. There are some great medics there and great players in general.

The usual constant medics are:
Zig Zag Patrick Haze
FAC Stefan
Eyeless Hunter
ODM
Other players like these also play medic sometimes:
Angryfingertips
JohnPreston
Tomlisonland

All of these people are good medics so just join up and ask for a heal

This is a very situational discussion and I will admit I am guilty of it to an extent...

Sometimes people play medic with their friends, i.e. only heal a friend.

Now, that I admit that I do this, I don't let dying people die, but I will save my uber for said person, etc...

.....................................................................

There are not a lot of good medics and most of them will stay like glue with a heavy and that's it..

I would say Woodstock needs to put up a guide to being a good medic since everyone seems to the Woody's the best =)

It depends on how you play. Some people dunno how to treat their medics. We demand respect and protection from the whole world. If you protect us, we will protect you to the best of our abilities. Now, if we are low on health and you are running for the health pack..NAY NAY! Leave it to the medics unless we don't need it.

When we give you uber, don't turn around and run from the other players, even if you don't have ammo, you have a melee weapon, use it. Don't get mad if we run off and give someone else uber, we know what we are doing most of the time.

Anyway, some people are horrible medics and some are really good. We heal whoever we want to.

Well, I dont want to preach or anything. lol. But, its hard to find a good medic. :D
Good luck. :D

I have noticed a lot of new or younger members playing medic are still trying to figure out the character. So perhaps the healing the spy thing was just a new member figuring things out. When I first started I had such a hard time clicking on the right person. And just last week I was trying to get to a dying sniper with a gazillion people running around him and wasnt able to get my cross on HIM until it was almost too late.

As a medic myself (and Iv only been playing for about a month, but have been around the game for a while) there are a few things that will effect if you get healed. First, make sure you hit your medic key when the medic sees you, even if you have already hit it once (they may have been elsewhere in the map, so they cant see who the bubble is over). Your bubble might have disappeared before they got there. But dont spam the medic key. I know a few medics who will ignore anyone whos spamming it. Also, stand still enough for them to get a lock on you. Obviously dont stand completely still. Thats just asking to get shot, but still enough that they can get to you. And if youre standing in a group of people (like the mentioned sniper) get out so they can get to you specifically.

One more thing, and this is just me personally, though I know a few medics who are the same way. If you actually say "Thank you" in text chat or voice chat after I heal you, I will dive through bullets and fire, even if it means I die, to heal you again. The more you say it, the more Ill remember you. :) A thank you will make you friends with any medic, let me tell you.

So maybe that helps. Its the medics job to heal you, yes. But its your job to help the medic also. A whole team is depending on that medic to heal (and occasionally blames them when they die). So help them help you, and make some medic friends :D

Hey there NecroNancy! AutoDMC talks about how great a medic you are all the time! Makes me feel self conscious :D

I hope to play with you some time and see how you work. I want to be a good (hopefully great, haha) medic someday. :)

Maybe you got something on your tooth that scares everyone away. Brush better next time!

But please, don't lump all medics together in one group. There are good medics and bad medics, just like there are good heavies and bad heavies.

I don't care what the whole of his post said but the last part is important.
Just because the other medics suck don't be saying all medics hate you
I'd heal you if you were yelling for a medic
Unless I was busy saving someone else
