What was your favorite classic map?


I have to give it up for Hill Classic obviously it was one of the beta maps when the game was first released back in 2000. I also enjoyed Glider and Escape (remember that map? where the germans fired the neblelwerfers onto the allied bridge at spawn? ) gah i wish they would bring some of those back. and if they have let me know haha.

yes! i forgot about that map! it was so fun to hide down in the hidden room at the bottom of the ladder hahah.

Love to play those. All classic maps were good if teams were balanced really.

oh yesss! zalec for sure! i loved trying to capture that damn fountain hahah.. remember when the gate used to be glitched and germans would sneak through and blow up and cap everything before the allies respawned on the new side of the map? lol...

because it was in the hedges and there was a crossroads that had to be held by an MG. it was freaking tight.

Best map ever for me would have to be dod_seg3. It was just a fantastic map with lots of routes and fun objectives. Also dod_snowtown was fun just for being a bloodbath.

hmmm... i've never seen forest on source. but it was definitely one of the original maps in 1.3. i think it depicted the argon forest.

It wasn't a 1.3, but does anyone here remember Sicily? What about Cherbourg? How about custom maps like Thunder, Tiger, Dogleg, Belgium, Clervaux, Hobofire, Stadtkampf, Railroad, Verdun...and the grandaddy of them all...CR44_B3!

There are source versions of most of the maps I mentioned. I would love to have a 24/7 server with one of them.

My favorite map was a custom where the Allies spawned inside the jail cells of an Axis castle, and had no weapons. They had to steal German weapons and the goal was to simply escape from the castle.... dod_festung
