Hey guys ive been haveing a problem with my mouse lately i have a Miicrosoft usb scroll wheel optical and it will loose power and not work but the lazer is still on but dimley lit and i want to open it and sawder the power cables back but imafraid to break it help please:facewall:

If you're afraid it will break when you crack it open, then don't open it.

You're not losing power with that dimly lit laser, it's only putting itself in standby mode. No power would mean no laser light at all.

Try some of these to fix it:

  • Update drivers
  • Plug it into a different USB port
  • Clean off the sensor
  • Replace the mouse

All mice like that go into a low-power mode when you leave them idle for a certain amount of time. They're supposed to wake right up when you move them, but it might be that your mouse has a filthy sensor that doesn't realize that it's moved or is not being read by the computer that it's moved (driver or usb port).

So if you try all those other fixes and nothing changes, you need a new mouse.

Thats wierd. I also have a Microsoft USB Optical mouse and mine has been working fine ever since i got it. The only time my light dims is when I leave it idle. It sounds like there may be a short or something somewhere. Try plugging it into a different USB port. Maybe the port you have it in is losing its power.Keep messing around with it a bit and hopefully you will find a solution.

That's very strange. If your not the type to rage viciously, then I wouldn't blame your mouse. It's probably your computer's USB port, driver, or other USB devices interfering. Is it plugged into a USB HUB?

If it's just a stock mouse (nothing that comes with special software) then it's likely not your drivers.

Yeah, Sounds weird could be the USB plug so try another one if you have one.
