PSU for 2 9800GTXs in SLI

You'll be fine with 750W. You might even be able to a little lower, but it's always good to go a little over what you need.

Corsair HX750. 60 AMPS on a single +12V rail, modular, 90+ efficiency, superb voltage regulation, and great ripple control. Corsair HX850 if you every want to add a third, or upgrade to 2 higher end cards.

You could even run it with a Quality 650 or 600 watt. The 4850 in crossfire runs fine with suppossedly only like 550 watt requirement but you could probably do it with a quality 500 watt but i always recommend going over the requirement and take everything with a pinch of salt. Im running a 1000w PSU right now but tahts because i got it for 90 bucks with like an 80 dollar rebate lol and the PSU is actually really good and good quality too. Tuniq ripper 1000w, newegg.com still has the rebate going so catch it fast, i think it ends tomorrow on July 31.

and the rebate does end on July 31 so basically u can purchase it tomorrow and rebate will count.....im pretty sure there will be other rebates though, they had this rebate when it first came out but then it went away and then came back :) got mine in beginning of July and its great, cant complain with it at all considering the price.
Neat little thing is that the fan on the PSU stays on for 2 minutes even after the computer is shut down to keep the PSU at a safe temperature and cool it down quicker. The fan is rarely audible though.

ah i see... i dont think ill be requiring that much power any time soon anyway >.<

Probably not recommended, also those are +'s. Anytime you want to upgrade your going to have to buy a new powersupply anyway.

Idk if your implying that his graphics cards are power saving but i assure you they aren't. Those are the faster versions of the 9800gtx which came out soon after benchmarks starting rolling out between the 9800gtx and the 4850 and the 4850 was beating the 9800gtx in most games. Thats why Nvidia shortly after introduced the 9800gtx+ which is faster clocked and helped even the playing field between the 4850 and 9800gtx+. They probably require more power but i doubt theres a big difference.

i have a 550w and 2 9800gtx+'s sli'd and it runs perfect
Exactly wat i talked about before, it is surely possible to run but i would only do it with a quality PSU and i hope you have that.

keep in ind , if its a 9800 gtx+it has a 55 nm die , so it runs very cool and consumes alot less power , you would be good on a decent 650 watt psu (namly corsair) but future proofing it is a great idea too . the bigger the psu you run , the less strain it will have mostly keeping all components running great for a long time. The only way your running a 550 is with single core , otehrwise you have a veeeeeeeeery unstable system. sli should run in a min of 650 , namly a good 650 .

zzzzzzzzz not true at all.....read my post before, as long as you have a quality power supply you are fine. Its mostly about how many amps that are getting to the card.
I have found specs that say 550W is the minimum for SLI
System Requirements Minimum of a 450 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 24 Amp Amps.)
Minimum 550 Watt for SLI mode system.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 30 Amp Amps.)
Fromm newegg page on one of the 9800gtx+

tyou are right , but keep in mind 550 is really small . i hope he has only 2 gigs ram , 1 optican , 1 hdd and a dual core , andthig else and your gunna strain it badly .
