I woke up at 7:00 a.m. this morning bright and early for one reason, Mothership Zeta. While I usually don't do that sort of thing for a video game I did have an interest in this one in particular, why? Cause Fallout 3 is probably one of the best modern day First Person Shooter Role Playing Game of all time.

I downloaded the DLC which only took a matter of minutes, and then I realized why it took so little of time to do it cause Mothership Zeta is the smallest of all Fallout DLC's.

In a span of 5 hours I managed to beat the confusing yet entertaining at some moments DLC, and the ending left me asking more questions then before playing it.

Honestly, I thought I've been cheated. The only real reason to getting this DLC in my honest opinion is getting the extremely overpowered Alien tech littered throughout the Mothership.

--------------

Pro's:
- Alien Weaponry > Human Weaponry
- Amazing ammounts of Alien ammo (All the Aliens weapons except one which is a melee weapon take only one type of ammo variant, and that variant is the ammo you find all through the DLC.)

Con's:
- Repetetive
- The Alien's are more annoying then Swampfolk. Blurting out gibberish and can take more damage then a Swampfolk as well.
- The environments the player goes through throughout the DLC are confusing to navigate through.
- Laggy and glitchy at some points

--------------

So to sum it up, this DLC for Fallout 3 is by far the most bitter-sweet of all the five currently out. I would only recommend this to players who have time on their hands and don't get frustrated easily.

Yep, I saw that one coming from a mile away. It sounds like they took a great open-world shooter and turned it into a corridor shooter.

Wasn't that the same deal with Operation Anchorage. It felt more like a FPS Shooter then a RPG FPS Shooter, though also being fun at the same time.

I have to agree with the OP for some points, tight confusing corridors make it diffuicult to navigate through and to find all the captive records on the ship. The game play was repetitive I must admit, but it was bearable. All in all I had great fun with this DLC, one of my favorites. Now, I'm gonna have even more fun when I do all the stock quests and side-quests back on earth with these new weapons.

I hope Bethesda changes their mind about this being the last DLC because I'm still craving for more, but they should stick to the core genre like Point Lookout.

Point lookout was by far the best DLC.

Point Lookout was okay, yet fairly short. And the Double-Barreled Shotgun wasn't as good as it was cracked up to be... Or maybe it's because I play on Very Hard :glare:

Broken Steel is my favorite only because it expanded the main quest, which I was dying to keep going in.

Operation Anchorage and Mothership Zeta are very much alike because in both DLC's you get to keep what you find. And both DLC's are only good for getting new Tech. (Chinese Stealth Armor, Gauss Rifle. Alien Atomizer, Alien Designator. Etc.)

does your fallout 3 ever freeze?

Yes, I have the X360 version of Fallout 3.

And it frequently freezes. It usually only happens about a couple hours into gameplay. But I didn't freeze once on Mothership Zeta.

I'm glad that I played through the entire thing in one day, cause about 4 hours after beating the DLC my X360 died. I'm presuming the GPU got fried... That explains why any of the games that have generally really good graphics froze on me.

Personally i'm loving it so far, haven't got to far into it because I beat point lookout then went over there for a bit.

I haven't played any of the DLC, but 2 mods that make Fallout 3 replayable are Mart's mutant mod, and FOOK. FOOK adds 120 new guns and new armor, ect. The mutant mod increases # of enemies 3-5x. Nothing like getting into a firefight with 15 supermutants. I play on normal, because all Very Hard seemed to do was make enemies harder to kill. I hate games that do this, make it harder by adding more enemies, instead of making the enemies harder to kill. There is nothing remotely fun about watching a mutant take 10 headshots from a hunting rifle.

The Fallout 3 DLC has been fairly mediocre, Broken Steel was OK and I liked Point Lookout, but I honestly think that Bethesda should spend more time with their DLC. I'm not getting this until The Ballad of Gay Tony comes out for GTA IV, because I have no Games for Windows/Xbox Live points right now, but since I have to have the complete Fallout 3 DLC I'll get both at that point, but I'm not going to rush out to get points for this DLC. Speaking of the GTA IV DLC, I think that if Bethesda took as much time as Rockstar did with theirs, at least based on The lost and Damned (Ballad of Gay Tony still has the potential to suck, but I trust Rockstar to deliver the goods) which seemed to encapsulate my concept of "DLC" better than just about any other DLC for any other game I've played. Maybe I'm alone on this, but I think that DLC should be mini-expansion packs or at least the new form of expansion packs, not overpriced mini-mods.

Gonna have to go and agree with everything said, this was a huge let down. Not only was the main quest fast, boring and confusing but there's not a single side quest to be found. Maybe I just missed them. The new weapons are ok, yeah there's a ton of alien ammo, but the weapons are average. Cramped spaces, aliens eating an entire clip and still being over 1/2 health. No actual back story, just run here, do this, the end.

I was very excited before the DLC went live, now I wish I had never wasted the money on it.

It was interesting because...

***WARNING SPOILERS***

Well I just got done playing Mothership Zeta and surprisingly it was longer than I anticipated from your guy's comments (Probably because I explored most of the corridors). If you guys ever played Operation Anchorage, this game play was very similar in that the back story was simple and short (more shooting, less talking) but in my opinion longer than anchorage. There is no side quest, this is a side quest with the option of returning to the ship to reload on alien weaponry. At least that's my opinion about this DLC (Downloadable Content)

I really like the alien weapons; their nicely designed and are very fun to play with. I also enjoyed how they added a cowboy and samurai in which we can obtain their gear. Of all the parts to this DLC, the very last mission was the most fun. In which you use the alien's death laser to kill another spaceship with the obvious nod to Star Trek, especially the seating positions.

I took two pictures at the end. The first picture shows me sitting in the captain's seat with the opposing ship blown to pieces in front of my window. The second picture is the view of my rear where the Cowboy and Samurai were slicing and shooting up any aliens interfering with the space fight. Also if you look at my ammo in the picture... that's the amount of alien ammo I picked up - its a lot. Heck, I didn't have to bring any weapons on board the ship - You mind as well go naked because you pick up a lot of gear and they strip naked you anyway.

This is like Operation Anchorage in that the highlight are the weapons. I would suggest getting it if your into Energy weapons along with having a space suit, cowboy outfit, and samurai gear.

On the negative side, I didn't enjoy navigating the small corridors - I like large maps, large mountainous areas to shoot. But its a space ship so I guess I should of expected this. Luckily I didn't encounter any bugs or crashes (A big issue I currently have with point lookout).

If you have operation anchorage, make sure your packing a stealth suit as it does help tremendously in taking down the shielded aliens.
