Force jumping -

now what i want to see is for valve to keep this and try to get it more wideley used and knock down the FaN damage in exchange.

that what i think needs doing the scout should be an extremely mobile class not a class for direct combat.

Especially with the Force-a-Nature the Scout is a hit and run class. Quick strikes and then running away. If it were a combat class he wouldn't die so easily. The Scattergun is (argueable) a better weapon for direct combat.
Scout is not a combat class. If a good Scout can kill your team mates easily there aren't enough people with good or decent aim. It takes skill to be able to survive 1vN fights. That is a lot easier with the Soldier or Heavy.

hang time = death to scout... go for it fan lovers. Yes it is a good technique, but it shouldn't be used for anything but getting to higher places; however, flanking abilities (espcially @ badlands) would be great.

Agreed

Hmm...this is an interesting technique. I am practicing it as we speak, and it is sort of finicky and not that reliable for me yet.

If this is an exploit to you then you should not tolerate rocket jumping or sticky jumping either, it's the same principal. You gain more height via good timing, precise angles and crouching just like Rocket jumping. This is not different.

Rocketjumping and stickyjumping is loads easier than this new kind of FAN jump. Also, Rocketjumping and Stickyjumping were intentionally built into the system (there is even code in place to lower the amount of damage you take the closer you are to your own explosion). With this new FAN jump, I really doubt it was intentional.

In any case, I don't want this to go away. I'd rather Valve cultivated this technique and made it a little easier to do so it's a more useful tactic. Right now, I see it as situational and don't feel like I want to depend on it.

I tried it, it is very easy and very useful to get to some places in dustbowl

took me about 5 min to get it right

Force jumping is fairly easy to pick up...I learned how to force jump faster than rocket jumping...Its not an exploit imo

Really? Rocketjumping is waaaay more consistent than force jumping.

Having to get a perfect 45-degree angle versus pointing straight down is a big difference.

Yea...Force jumping was so easy for me and it took me about a day to get it down...Rocket jumping took me like 3 or 4 days to get down...Was a sad thing to see trying to learn how to rocket jump, hahaha

Well... Now scouts can double jump with sandman, and quad jump with FaN -maybe they should be invulnerable all the time too? Cmon enough with scouts they're OP enough - what about soldiers or demos, or engis?

I hope they fix this, this is like the whole bunny hop problem on the console versions. :|

I really switched because of this reason from scatter to FaN, it is the perfect way to get out of danger, it works, so good, unbelievable.
