Champions Online "Open" Beta. Yes folks, thats right. They have failed already, twice in fact. Firstly, you must be a FilePlanet PAYING subscriber, or have already pre-ordered the game. That alone is enough to make me not ever give them a dime of my money. And to add insult to injury, the game has a bug that won't allow the Beta client to start. They have released a non-working work-around, and apparently you have to keep trying to run it over and over until it works.
I'm posting this because I think it is important that everyone be aware that they are trying to set a precedent of kickbacks to third parties for things that should not have to be paid for. It is a service to the company when we test their game, we should not be charged in any way to help them.
Long story short, don't test this game. And if you feel you really, really have to, don't give them any feedback. Why should we provide a service that we are charged to provide?
Sorry about the rant, but I was just really upset that I was expected to pay for a beta test. It just doesn't make sense, and I don't want to see the quality of games dwindle on account of greedy corporations and people.
