Greetings,
I Cancer Man have posted this thread to accomplish two of the following goals:
1: Reach out to my fellow Canadian Edge Gamers members.
2: Educate my American counterparts in order to debunk any and all preconceptions of what or who Canadians are.
First of all I would like to accomplish objective number 1 as fast as possible for it really is a "No Brainer".
Therefore I extend an invitation to any Canadian members to just write a quick comment to make yourselves known, for you (like myself) are feeling trapped in the vast sea of RED, WHITE, and BLUE that consist of Edge Gamers.
If you, the reader, have not already guessed I am Canadian.
Now before we really begin where have you heard this stereotypical slogan? You know "I AM CANADIAN.
OF COURSE you remember where that slogan is from!
It was that darn stupid campaign ad from Molson Canadian. I will post the you-tube link for one of the many ridiculous commercials that I just despise.

This is a good subject to start on correct? (Notice I did not use 'eh?') That subject is of course Beer! it seems that many Canadians have been branded the stigma that not only we drink more than the average American joe or even the German Franz but we also pride ourselves on our delicious beer.
Well with that in mind have you ever been to a country that DID NOT pride themselves not only on drinking but also on their beer or some other alcoholic beverage?
From what I hear (from commercials) is that Samuel Adams is a widely preferred American beer. The French have their champagne from the famous wineries in the Provence of Champagne where it was originally invented, when you drink sparkling wine it is not considered Champagne unless the wine actually came from this French province, but I digress.
Germans on the other hand pride themselves in the partaking of ales to the extent that they believe to be the inventors of beer.
The Irish who not only have been branded as alcoholics from birth deem that they have brewed the finest beer ever (Guinness).
An interesting fact about the origin of Pilsner is that the rights to use the name Pilsner has been disputed between the Czechs and the American company who distributes Pilsner. Apparently the Czechs claim that they invented the beer first and should therefore have the rights to call their beer Pilsner instead of the similar sounding Pilsner Urquell that they have now.
Again I digress, this is only a sample of the many claims and stereotypes ridden throughout the world. As a Canadian personally I would like to state that I do not endorse Molson Canadian or support the myth that it is the national beer of Canada. It tastes God awful when compared to other beers of the world, it is not suitable for shotgunning, beer bonging, or any event that requires you to drink a lot of this substance.
Now the previous comment is based on my personal opinion of the product but let it be known that when I attend a party I rarely see Molson Canadian being consumed. Did you know that Canada produced Molson Canadian in the 1786 so it has been around a while however, due to a merger in 2005 Molson is now an American company who is brewing what everyone assumes is a Canadian beer. ! :scared:FTW??( WTF backwards
)
Honestly.....I could write volumes on alcohol but that is for another time.
I would like to address and correct many comments I have heard whilst playing insurgency many of these comments were said by EGO members. For the record if you recognize these comments I did, in fact, find them hilarious.
One member said "In Canada they do not get FPS (frames per second.) The get DPS, 'Dogs per second.' Cause they receive their internet by sled.
To clear any confusion MOST Canadians DO NOT travel by sled dog. The ones that do, live in THE NORTH WEST TERRITORIES, and NUNAVUT which are located in the Northern part of Canada beside Alaska for use of cars up in that area is impractical and snow mobiles, Snow crawlers and sled dogs are more practical.
Most Canadians do not eat whale blubber
peoples who partake in such practices do so because it is apart of their culture or they may actually like it. I have yet to see a person eat blubber. I do believe their are people in Alaska who partake in the same actions.
I have also heard that we travel around in snow shoes and the weather here is winter all around.
I personally have used snow shoes three times in my life and during those times they were apart of a extra curricular activity such as cub scouts. As for winter all around I would say that like the United States temperature differs from province to province. I have never experienced or lived in an area where there is snow on the ground all year round or that the temperature is lower than the defalt temperature comfortableness level of 20 degrees Celcius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) all year round.
The final comment that I can remember was a comment poking fun at Canadian Military.
I must admit. Our military is not up to par with the United States when it comes to hardware....however... I cannot go further into this topic for if I am not mistaken this topic is rather controversial and that would be against EGO policy however, if EGO permits it I would totally talk about it in my next form. So stay alert for that one.
IN CLOSING
I know I did not cover most of the various stereotypes however I was trying to write as much as I possibly could without boring you, the reader, as well as causing a controversial disturbance such as talking about governments (which is against EGO regulations), whilst sticking to my allotted time frame.
This is a thread after all and even though I extended open invitation to Canadians to make themselves known if you have opinions or more stereotypes you wish to debunk or even have questions on feel free to post your comments.

That would be awesome.
I apologize. I'm really surprised it hadn't already been said. To be fair, everyone pokes fun at everyone. Un4Gvn is the eGO INS's metal-rocking mom and Grandpa Hammer likes really long-winded tales of yesteryear. Every time someone says "Eh?" you should say "Ya'll". It's really only fair.
