I just saw that Blizzard announced a new WoW expansion and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about it because this might be the thing to get me back into WoW depending on how it looks

thanks for any help

too many expansions for WoW the game is old...but don't take me seriously i love mmo games, but WoW is what 4 or 5 yrs old

Hmm. Sounds like Blizzard has a TON of work to do. I mean, Redoing the WHOLE game environment? Should be interesting.

It does look cool, But just like the other expansions, it will be fail.

How hard can it be, throw in some rifts and some volcanos and fire. Then add some grass to other areas..

I have lost so many friends to WoW...
I don't think they even remember what the sun LOOKS like.

.......WOW this may be enough to interest me in WoW(AGAIN)...probably not.
Things that look interesting:

The cursed worgen with the Alliance or the resourceful goblins with the Horde.
Worgen as in wolves? And with the Alliance?

New Race and Class Combinations
Awesome. More druids and shamans please?

The broken Barrens, which has been sundered in two.
Wow. Nice storyline Blizzard, coming up with elementals from inside the planet. Amazing. But seriously, The Barrens with a giant crack in the ground? D: I can imagine the new Barrens chat...
"lol i r find big hole in grnd n die by fllng in it"
That's not sarcasm.

Guild Advancement:
Progress as a guild to earn guild levels and guild achievements.
You FINALLY took those million suggestions? Good idea!

Flying Mounts in Azeroth
:) :) :)

Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms have been altered forever and updated with new content
Awesome, high levels and low levels in the same place!

Azshara is now a low-level zone for Horde players and connects directly to Orgrimmar.
Great, I've never been there.

What is this "phasing" I keep hearing about? Is it phase shifting?

Yes, there will be incremental tweaks and updates to the graphics engine in this expansion. For example, we’ve made improvements to the way that water is rendered.
Yaaaay!

Okay, sorry for double post, but I found the list. Interesting new class-race combinations:

Undead Hunter
Tauren Paladin
Dwarf Shaman
Worgen Hunter. Think about it, a wolf with a wolf pet!
Worgen Druid. Wolf -> Pig -> Cat -> Owl -> Tree -> Wolf.
Of course there can't be a Worgen Shaman. A wolf transforming into a ghost wolf? That's the same thing as just dying!

Phasing was something they introduced in Wrath, Ranthus.

As you progress through the questline of a zone, the zone will actually start to change (for you). This is usually first represented in the Death Knight starting zone, where as you do quests and fight the Scarlet Crusade, undead will slowly start to take over the town they're occupying and force them back and back to the beach. (They're introducing a new form of phasing with the next expansion, which instead of just controlling NPCs and objects, they'll be able to control terrain aswell. Completeing a quest might send you into the real version of the zone that's completely different.)

It's like multiple instances of a zone all happening at the same time.

Phasing should be awesome...and they said that they would fix the UI so you would KNOW when you were with someone else who was behind on the questline, something that's a major irritant in the current content. I stopped playing wow several months ago after the stress of trying to run a raiding guild just got to me too much, but this one could pull me back in. Also, I'm amazed that no one else has been commenting on the new Heroic Deadmines. I mean, we've been joking about that since they came out with heroics! HEROIC VAN CLEEF!!!!!

just let this game die already. It has already killed what a true mmo is suppose to be.....let it go

As much as I dont like it, I dont agree 100%. I think that this MMO has inspired thousands of others. Without it, alot of games wouldnt have been made.

But I know what you mean - the game is old, everyone's tired of hearing about it.

what I mean is they turned an mmo into an instant experience. the whole point of an mmo is to spend ALOT of time working to build up your avatar. years worth of time. WoW made it so you can build up were you want in a few months.

So they might have inspired other mmo games, but its a IMMO (instant massive multiplayer) which is a crap version imo. All these new games are trying to do what WoW has done, and it will only get worse.

Goodbye MMO

(this post is only my opinion, based off of years of mmo play and tears of sadness)

So, what happens if you don't buy the expansion pack? Does the world just stay the same?

Thar's your problem.

You're a Generation 1 MMO-player.

You play FFX, EQ1, Eve.

Most people are now Generation 2 MMO-players.

We play WoW, EQ2, Various F2P MMOs.

You're right, it is a complete shift. And that's fine; the G1 MMOs aren't as bad as a lot of G2 ones that come out because they came back out in the day where they had to deliver, especially to the hardcore playerbase.

G2 MMOs cater to the casual player (and let's not pretend they try to cater to hardcore ones), and are better pick-up-n'-play games for people who might have an hour and a half after work to play a day. You don't have to run around PoK getting yourself Temp or Wunshi's(can't remember spelling), you just get up and go.

I'm a G2 MMO player, starting with EQ2 and then onto WoW as SOE crumbled yet another game in on itself. I played EQ1 up until 30 or so and it was just so user unfriendly and took so much research (with my brother even sitting next to me being a since-release veteran) that you might get one day of play and the next trying to figure out what to do, or spending a half hour sitting at the bottom of an ocean listening to spirits lie to you for just one part of a quest chain to get a stupid weapon for your shaman so you can get better ones.

FFX and Eve are probably the best-maintained games out of Gen1 (since EQ burned itself to the ground with everything between PoP and DoD) and still seem to be going strong for the hardcore that want to play them.

Is a difference. :(

The changes to Azeroth take place for everyone regardless to which expansions you have. However you will need the expansion to access the new races, the ability to lvl to 85, the new zones (such as Hyjal), flying in Azeroth, the new secondary profession and many other things.

Cupcake, you get the "Best Post "award.

That is the best break down I have ever seen about that topic.
