I'm a huge Starcraft fan. I've been playing for years and I've got very good at it. Of course I haven't played it in a long time, just because it's so old (even though it's still very easy to find people to play with online).

I've been waiting for Starcraft 2 for so long. But every time the release date comes into the near future, they delay it. Then they delay it. And delay it again. I have no problem with this, as I know Blizzard is just trying to make it the best game that they can, but I'm getting impatient.

Any other Starcraft fans out there dying for Starcraft 2 to come out?

SC2 will come out when Duke Nukem goes gold...

Blizzards focus : World of Warcraft...

They make 15mil + a month... translates into more resources to that specified game.

I used to play SC a lot but got burnt out plus I give up on SC2 ever coming out

First of the trilogy supposedly hit the markets sometime late this year or early next year probably by 2nd quarter of 2010. I am DYING to play some SC2, but then again i haven't played SC1 in such a long time......

I'm with ya buddy.

You bet man. As an avid Starcraft player and a follower of the foreign (Korean) leagues for year now I ran to the corner of my room and cried when I got the news. Wether or not it was expected is beyond me at this point. Hopefully it'll be SC2 and the new MMORPG next year cause if its Diablo III ill have serious problems debating which one to play.

It makes me wish WoW never existed. The world would be such a better place. SC2 and D3 might have been out by now.

Don't get me wrong though, WoW is still lots of fun. ;)

I disagree that WoW will make SC2 worse, I think it'll be better because of it. What it's done is give Blizzard ridiculous amounts of money to throw at SC2 and BattleNet.
However, the Blizzard now is not the same team that made SC1 the phenomenal success it is. They don't understand what made SC1 so good and are almost having to start from scratch, that's one of the reasons it's taking so long.
As a die hard SC fan I'm not really happy with the 3d engine, it's just not as crisp as the original BUT I'm confident that after the 2 expansions it'll still be a great game albeit different game.

The Beta will be out in November/December once they sort out BattleNet. They are telling us the game is good enough for Beta testing but BattleNet is not quite up to scratch.

I'm quite excited about SC2, but am a little disappointed that it's so similar to the first one. I don't see much real innovation, it's just the same thing but in 3D and with different units. Almost like a mod. I hope they manage to change it up enough to make it relevant, the RTS genre has changed a lot since the first one.

Sorry Red Comet, but I completely disagree with you. SC2 and SC1 are different in every way imaginable. The only similarity I can see between the two are that they're both Real Time Strategy games. Everything else is different.

You're right, the units are different and it's now in 3D, but there's also completely new build structures, build orders, etc. In other words, if you tried a strategy that you would normally use for SC1 in SC2, it would fail. The way that overlords can create Creep for Zerg to build on is just one example of how the game will be a completely different experience than SC1.

Not only do they have WoW to upkeep (making them tons of money as rogue said), but they are also DEVELOPING Diablo 3! These are 2 hugely anticipated games that were both supposed to be released in 09 or 010 but they gonna come out eventually... I have yet to play a bad Blizzard game so i'm content (albeit not happy) waiting for these games, because, i know they're gonna kick ass when they FINALLY come out ;)

Diablo 3 won't be released until 2011 at the earliest.

Well yeah the RTS genre has changed... it's been massively dumbed down and noobified.
Just look at the extreme DoW2 where there's NO base management at all and you can barely control your units. It looks great, it's awesome fun for about 1 week but there's nothing there. Nothing to improve on, no real strategy, no physical skill required.

Sometimes the simplest games are the best. SC is so pleasing on the eye because at it's core are very simple mechanics but from that you get such a massive scope for skill. It's like soccer. 10 years on and we still have players innovating strategies and doing things we've never seen before.
At the moment it's Lee Jaedong and Fantasy. You can watch their games and actually appreciate the immense multi-tasking.

There's no doubt SC2 will be a fantastic game.
For a casual player the single player, 2v2s, playing the computer and mainly community made maps will provide months of entertainment.
But whether or not it's competitive remains to be seen.

I'm waiting on SC2 as well, I waited almost 9 years for TF2 (original release date was Dec 98) to finally come out so it doesn't bother me to wait a little longer for SC2.
