My laptop is a Core2Duo with an nVidia 8600M GT, but I actually have one of everything in this poll in the house right now, including these:

AMD Athlon/nVidia GeForce2
Intel Celeron/ATI Integrated
AMD Athlon 64 (and Sempron!)/ATI Integrated

I'm not a particular fanboy; whatever is best (and most cost-effective) at the time of purchase works for me, although I admit a slight bias towards nVidia simply because I know their cards a little better than ATI's.

ATI AND INTEL FTW!

my dad (who works for intel) says they are 2 years ahead of amd. Just have not released a bunch of their stuff yet. If they did all the anti-monopoly peeps would get their boxers in a bunch.

and mac OS, is another choice? i don't get it. Mac is intel/nvidia

intel/nvidia FTW

oh noes has been brainwashed

needs help quick

in seeing how AMD is exetremly lacking in benchmarks versus the i7 cores or even the quads intel is the way to go
In seeing that i7 configurations are 2x the price and you only get maybe 30% better performance amd is the way to go. Unless it is 50% better performance for twice the money I aint buying.

You may be surprised at the performance of the i7 versus the Phenom II......considering the Quad 9550's and up beats the fastest Phenom II 955 BE
And they do not cost 2x the price, they cost i'd say around 100 more including mobo and ram, but the mobo's are currently much better than the AMD ones and select ones run SLI and CF. You can get a i7 mobo for less than 200 easily and i found an MSI one which runs both CF and SLI for 170. The i7 920 is 80 more but Microcenter sells the i7 920 for only $200 brand new but its only in-store. I'd say that amounts to 100-200 dollars more than an AMD setup which is decent. Not cheap but decent considering the performance.

AMD with ATI for bang for buck, Intel with Nvidia if your made out of dough.
