Novint Falcon Experience Thread

I'll throw in a little bit of advertising here...

You can use the code PGDiscount when you check out to get 20% off, on top of your eGO discount if I am correct?

IDC, I have my Falcon and love every millimeter of it. Thank you!!! :)

i never win anything :/
maybe one day I will get lucky and not wake up. then i dont need to worry about contests :D

This is great, definitely worth those hundred dollars back when there was that big discount!
Unfortunately, one of the cap things on the bottom right arm fell off some time ago, and now the pin that keeps the arm in place falls loose every now and then. But, it's nothing some tape can't solve.

I have been reading quite a few reviews about these and really haven't read anything negative.

I will be purchasing one sometime in the near future.

Bought the falcon last September
I use the falcon for CSS on a daily basis and I love it. I good note to add is that even after using the falcon everyday, I have never had a problem with it. Very well built and programed !!

I have fine tuned my falcon to how I like it for css. I find it to provide the best competitive style when the settings are turned down. I turn down the settings right down to a slight rumble. My recoil is set a lil stronger then the others but not to much to mess up my aim when caught in burst fire. If you are just playing for fun keep it on the default settings and feel the power of your gun!

A great advantage I have in CSS is the ability to feel where I have been shot. This works the best when you get flashed ( which happens a lot! :) ) You can feel and gage the direction your attacker is. Many times I have been able to kill the enemy in this fashion while blind.

I have use my falcon for other games like TF2 and LFD and find it amazing. You can leave your settings to default and have a blast! Really feel the recoil and the environment around you.

I once wanted to try my mouse again or CSS just to see the dif after using the falcon for so long and could not believe the slowness and resistance a mouse creates in comparison to the falcon. Never going back to a boring mouse.

FALCON 4 LIFE!

I would love to have a falcon, but it honestly looks like if i turn fast enough ill rip the pistol grip off or something, or flip the whole thing lol.

i am definitely getting a falcon later on down the road

I've turn my falcon pretty quick before and never had a problem.
The falcon itself is very tough to tip over and the pistol grip is attached to the falcon pretty good. The only thing it may do is slide the falcon when u try adn turn in a game way to fast.

I'm considering getting a falcon soon, but I use a different keys layout that could be ruined when I get one.
The main bit is that right mouse click is forward and that I need my scroll intact to change weapons. I understand that I could switch to WASD but I would really really suck.

hey eurocracy - you'll be able to use Falcon buttons to move and change weapons, so it shouldn't be too big a change for you. thx, tomnovint

Alright, I'm planning to order a falcon around christmas time, assuming theres the pistol grip available around then :D

I wish I could get my hands on one. Sadly they are out of my price range. AND Im at a point where money for college is becoming a BIG part of where my money goes.

Sorry to bump, just saw this thread, pitching my opinion.

Falcon: Bought
Opinion: Neutral. I purchased the Falcon a while back and at the time I loved it. I played portal and half-life 2 and was thoroughly entertained by the experience. After about 2 weeks of playing offline games, I felt that I was ready to start to get into my competitive TF2 play styles that I previously had. For about 10 hours of play time, I was frustrated, getting dominated by almost everyone, and just plain out hating everything to do with the Falcon. I drudged through this "getting used to" period and started to improve dramatically. Eventually my skill capped off, but it was far below then my skill with my mouse. I was forced to lean away from demoman, soldier, and spy and move more towards scout, heavy, and medic. The game overall was more fun from the start, but when I play, having fun is dominating or at least playing above average, which made the game very frustrating to veer away from my domination classes and move to new, unfamiliar classes. To people interested in getting the Falcon, I purchased it on-sale for about $100 and I would say it is worth that price. Anything more expensive then this seems too pricey. To players that are not competitive, don't care about their rank, and just play to goof around and have fun, this item is a great idea. It makes the game more fun, but lowers your skill (from my personal experience). To players that are competitive and constantly check their rank and get frustrated when doing bad, you will probably not enjoy this to the full extent, since it seems to take an extremely long time to get skilled with it.

All in all, competitive players should stay away from this unless they are willing to suck for a while. Overall, I would recommend this to any avid gamer though, since it does make any old, boring game interesting again.

7.5/10

eurocracy, we'll have a deal for Black Friday, I expect

Cobalt, thanks for your review. Overall, I've found that the better the player, the longer it takes to get up to speed. Sounds like you're good, so makes sense the learning curve was steeper for you. I'm personally at a point where I am much better with the Falcon than the mouse (me moving to the mouse would be the same as you moving to the Falcon, as I've only used the Falcon for the last 3 years), and better than I think I could ever be with the mouse. There is admittedly a learning curve, but I think with enough time, people usually eventually surpass their mouse skills - even very good players. Thanks for your thoughts on the single player play as well - that is where a lot of people find value in the Falcon. I just finished playing Mafia 2 last night with the Falcon, and it was a lot more fun than it would have been with a mouse ;)

I'm always around (on this thread at least :) ) to answer people's questions.

thx all,
tomnovint

Have wanted one from the first time I saw it.
Maybe if I write santa he will bring one...
At 41 years old writing Santa will probably bring a straight jacket...lol

I'll be making another post here because I am getting a novint falcon pistol grip bundle for Christmas.

I just got the email conformation but the only thing is that I now have a spare key for the orange box and I don't know what to do with it.
