Flamethrowers are the only weapon you can use to avoid being beaten up by ninjas.

*fact not always true, but always full of truthiness

finally some suggest m1 +w pyro that can do other things
by the use of frequently it isn't just m1 + W
+1 rep

In my opinion, the pyro's skill floor is way too high, and its skill ceiling is way too low. It takes no skill to play, and even if you're good, you're never as good as a soldier with equal skill.

TF2 is not a skill game, I think VALVe engineered it to not be skill intensive on purpose.

I agree with both statements, TF2 was made to be more for the casual gamer, and I don't mind that one bit. I'm casual and barely competitive (just eGO tf2 league)

so pyro law #1337 With regards to the Brigade helm
A) a fire axe should be the primary weapon of choice
B) compression blast teammates on fire

Alas, poor Sir, he has been grossly misinformed and his opinion suffers for it. I find his lack of logic particularly melancholy.

In his example, two people are of equal skill, one plays soldier (person A) and one plays pyro (person B).

According to Sir, person A = person B in terms of skill.
Also by Sir's reasoning (A+soldier) gets more kills than (B+pyro)
Therefore, soldier gets more kills than pyro

So all skill aside, soldier must be easier to kill with than pyro by Sir's logic.
If pyro were easier to kill with, then pyro would get more kills than soldier.

Obviously, you cannot take what Sir says as a truth, so please friends, disregard his sad ramblings and rejoice in the glory that is the pyro.

I ran an experiment that day, playing a pyro who exclusively used W and fire.....

I wound up with a kdr of 2.

This is what I have read so far in this thread:

Hudda, murffffa duourrrda booo. hee huhuhuhuh hudda, murrrrrphfffffff !!! Hahreram, hamoooo.

Here is the real truth:

Pyros cry when they see my Ubersaw.

I have roasted more heavy + medic combos than the amount of times I've been ubersaw'd.

I still agree with what he has said. I'm still to meet a pyro that can kill me consistantly. he may catch me off guard the first time and send my crit rocket back to kick me, but thats just be cause i normally assume most pyros dont know how to air blast. then next time i meet him i see how good he is at deflecting my shotgun pellets, and i haven't seen one that can do that yet. XD

I dont mean to start a war, all im saying is a pyro and soldier of equal skill, head to head, the soldier will win more times then not.

Also, yes soldier will win more times than pyro going head to head (first time I would win due to my masta airblast skills), but that is because the pyro is an ambush/shock class, so of course if the soldier had ample time to see him coming before he got within flaming range the soldier would win. Really good pyros (imo) basically are spies without cloak or disguise kits, if you can get behind enemy lines with the backburner (or otherwise) you can get four or five kills if they are all bunched up and still make it out alive. Then everyone yells at me for being a noob pyro because I use Back Burner (if I find the team is easy to get behind their lines, if I keep getting spotted or killed before I get behind their lines I switch to regular flame thrower), when really IMO they are the noobs because they can't spot a pyro running behind their lines in time to kill me before I kill them.

EDIT: only problem is while pyro is probably my best class (pyro or scout) I dislike playing as them, I much prefer spy or soldier lol, I suck as both of them but I find it more fun

Then by your own logic, you agree that playing soldier requires less skill.

that's a pessimistic way of looking at it. the linearly better you get at soldier, the exponentially more you can do with him. i don't think you can say that about other class. or if you could, that class would be to the 2nd or 2.5nd power where ass the soldier would be 2.7nd to 3.45rd power.
