Hi everybody, it’s your favorite baguette eater!
I would like to put forward an idea from the cute Goosey Goosey and propose it to everyone.

So, as you can see, it would be really nice if a permanent CT ban could be implented to avoid swap evasion (you know when a guy do something wrong, got CT swapped and instantly leave) and careless CT’s in general.

This would refrain a lot of players to do mistakes when they play as a CT. Of course, mistakes happen and we have to be tolerant about this. It’s more about mistake frequency.
Indeed, this would be the ultimate deterrence for players who like to be a nuisance whenever they can or for players who like to destroy round occasionally (gun plant, toxicity, etc…)

This permanently CT ban is not something to be taken lightly (obviously, this is for the various admins playing on the jailbreak) so any decision related to a permanent CT ban would only be taken by a manager or (above) to avoid any problems.

Permanent CT ban would be exclusively for the players who have a certain number of CT swaps (for example, if a player has like 25 CT swaps in a week, this player should be aware that he is about to be permanently CT banned if he is not going to change and continues to break the rules as a CT).
And obviously, this will not be for the MFK, MFD, huge Server Disruption (killing all the t’s with the deathcrate, a classic) or any intent freekill. Those kind of actions will always have the same ban duration.

I have already seen this type of permanent CT ban on different JB servers and it worked well !

However, we must grant a pardon to any player. Therefore, a player permanently CT banned will have the chance to catch up on his mistakes. But yeah of course, he will have only one more chance to act like a good EGO community member.
I know that some are not going to agree with this because it will perhaps make some players leave the server but only the unwanted players will be impacted by this permanently CT ban :p

Finally, as I previously said, this would be used as few times as possible to avoid a significant number of players permanently banned from CTs.

Every time this comes up for discussion, it's always a question of "why not just ban them from the servers?".

I understand permanent CT bans can be good for certain players who troll on CT but not T, but if only managers+ can assign a permanent ban and can remove it at a moment's hesitation, then why not just ban them off the servers? If you are an active problem on CT and you keep doing dumb stuff, you're going to get banned at some point and they can make an appeal.

Permanent CT bans, at least in what this suggestion provides, is just a run-around for a server ban. If they are consistently swap evading or continuing to be careless, just ban them. They aren't people we should have around anyway if they are purposefully evading to troll on CT.

Yeah that’s true that there is a good chance for the player to be banned at the end. But it’s mainly to maintain the players active. The players permanently CT banned will have to play only as a T so yeah, it’s either they continue to be a nuisance as a T or either they change their attitude. It could be seen as a second chance (when they are permanently unbanned from CTs) before a real ban from the server.

From my own experience, I saw that this way of managing bans is very beneficial because many saw it as a rather heavy punishment and they were very careful not to be rebanned after their unban. But, like you said, it's a double-edged sword. Either it is beneficial for the player and he can continue to play on the JB or either he is permanently banned at the end :/

I agree with kuantum. While additional ban types are on the roadmap, permanent bans should only be at the global level.

If there is a permanent CT ban, then we are talking about an experienced player that is intentionally griefing and isn't making a "mistake". Allowing the player to continue to play on the server is unacceptable, and if other players leave because of the ban, let them. We aren't going to let things slide to "maintain the active players" and allowing this behavior only promotes disruptive and toxic behavior.

The ban hammer needs to be used regardless of "who" the individual is, you won't hurt its feelings.

In fact, I’m only talking about minor mistakes done with a high frequency (for example a guy being CT swapped 20-25 times for baiting, careless, playing t games, etc… this perma CT ban would be for this type of players). All those little mistakes combined and this could lead to a perma CT ban.
I’m not talking about bigger mistake such as griefing, mfk, mfd, intentional free kill, etc…

And of course, as I said, this perma CT ban would be for players doing a lot of little mistakes ,and so, not for the new players playing on the JB ( I mean it could be for new players if they always do little mistakes everytime they play CT but it would be for the regular players in most of the cases)

This is what i'm talking about :

21 ct bans in a month but it was just little mistakes such as baiting, shooting to stack, camping armory, free kills, playing T games.

21 “little” mistakes seems like a bit much after a whole month.

I do think we should allow admins to issue an extended CT ban for major stuff like MFK or mass free damage.

I don't know if I agree with the permanent CT ban because at that point we should ban them from the server completely.

Back in pG days when a CT would, for example, MFK we would CT ban them for 2 weeks rather than server ban. The admin will then do CT ban notes and the player can contest this. I think this is better than an outright server ban because it can allow the player to properly learn how to play Jailbreak.

@santa MS MS Spare Spare @DDZ ZioNeX We somewhat spoke about this last AT meeting. Any thoughts?

There is not too many players that are absolutely horrible CT's and break rules CT constantly but follow general server rules, and if not usually they are new to jailbreak and will learn. In my experience if you don't follow the CT rules, there is little to no hesitation to break general rules. Do I think people should be permanently CT banned, no. Do I think the punishment for CT bans for known rulebreakers should be harsher, yes. Even though it seems like LE has a lot on their plate as it is with ban reports and such, in my experience I think the best measure to take is bring it to a higher up, in this case LE, and show them the evidence you have that this player has had the chance to learn to play CT correctly and multiple attempts; and they just neglect the rules. From there, issue a sweeping CT ban on the player, not permanent, and keep an eye on them if they cause problems on T side as well.

I'm neither for or against this, both have equally valid arguments. However, if they're getting ctbanned that much, at some point it's considered server dis. I've seen blantant repeat offenders receive server bans before, albeit rarely. Similarly (according to sopheyy, I actually didn't know this existed), similarly to W/K/B, CT offenses are W/W/B (with warns being ctbans, forgot if there was an extra kick or not). Not that that's followed usually for obvious reasons

Agreed to this one. For example, the Bread guy Nekkk posted, he is really young and makes careless behaviors but an extended CT ban would be better to help them learn from other players, and actually (potentially) become a good CT player like Jacko does.

He shouldn't be playing on CT if he doesn't know how to play CT correctly.

Yeah I do agree with you bro, an adjusted sentence seems more appropriate than a perma CT ban after all !
The main issue would be that, for example, if someone wants to MFK and knows that it will lead to « just a ban of 2 weeks from the CT », some of them would be more tempted to do it because they wouldn’t be banned from the server, only from the CT’s…

Pretty sure on GTA there’s a whitelist that people must apply through to join the police. A blacklist for those that show they’re shite CTs makes sense in my mind.

Or just ban everyone 👌

Permanent cts bans will probably never be a thing. I think what we have now is fine, anything longer is pointless. If the player is causing so many issues that you have to constantly ct ban them for like 60 min, just server ban them. The w/k/b gives them "enough" chances to not be dumb but if they're just constantly taking the w/k then leaving, just ban them the next time they come on and do something bad.

Sometimes a CT action can warrant an instant ban circumventing a Warn or Kick. Such as accidentally starting a game and killing T's, free damaging a lot of T's with a nade, or mass freekilling T's running at you because Warden died and it was a freeday.

Admin should always try to use discretion and reduce a length of a punishemt when they see fit for things like accidents or being a new player but sometimes that doesn't happen and the player is then instead server banned for CT error.

I understand implementing CT ban with MAUL can be tricky, but we can maybe find away around this with an admin CT ban section in the forums.
