Medic supposedly going to be nerfed?

I would like to see the syringe gun or the original bonesaw getting a taunt kill, but really... Medic's the least used class. I really don't want to see players discouraged to use it when it's already so important.

Valve have no idea on who they should nerf. Medic is by far the weakest class in TF2 - ubersaw and blutsauger are the only weapons that can protect him. Its not like you see medics go on a killing spree every day. Plus with the way people start to play now medics need all the protection they can get - noone protects medics anymore, a while back game was all about teamwork (heavies, soldiers, demos protected medic at all cost so that uber was built up and team had a better chance of winning) and now its all about getting more kills, more points and be higher on the rankings.

If Valve is going to nerf medic there will be no medics left, everyone is going to play scout all the time,as it is the most OP class at the time in my opinion.

Okay guys, I read somewhere that Valve actually bolstered the original Medic weapons in beta (Syringe Gun and Bonesaw) and removed those benefits from the unlockables.

For instance, they added +10% damage to the Syringe Gun, but did not for the unlockables. So it would be more like:

Currently:
Syringe does 10 damage.
Blutsauger does 10 damage and +3 Health on hit

Beta:
Syringe does 11 damage.
Blutsauger does 10 damage and +3 Health on hit

They only show up as negative effects on the unlockables because they don't want to add attributes to the "vanilla" weapons.

I think I almost had an aneurysm trying to figure this out. :confused1:

It's really a double edged sword, the medic is overpowered in SOME CASES.

If it were to be nerfed, I'd like the Blutsauger 2 and Ubersaw 1, You don't need to nerf our health. It's already hard enough to survive as a medic. Medics are, well.. Medics. They don't absolutely NEED to damage, just for self defense.

Just my 2c

Wow, all you people raging? This is what Valve should've done for the medic update. All weapons are meant to be a sidegrade, and be interchangeable.

(Much like how people use the BB and orig Flamethrower, shotgun and flaregun. Not so much axe.

The same trend in the heavy, weapons are interchangeable between.)

The only weapon that was sidegraded was the kritz. I'm fine with the idea of a "nerf" for lack of a better word. When the day a medic can kill a heavy, (which happens, alot) there's obviously something wrong. Yeah, not many people play medic, but that all goes down to playstyle, not everybody enjoys helping other people that way. Some of us (me included) love blood, and blowing people up...

@midget: Then they should boost the originals! Not trash the unlockables which is the current standard of gameplay.

I've been very accepting of valve and their updates, even when other people got mad. But starting with the scout becoming uplayable (one hit to kill) when weilding the sandman I've become a little ticked off. Stop chopping off my HP! Just make another game that's one-hit kills without tearing down one of my favorites in the process!

They need to stop updating in my opinion, they're getting worse and worse.

Although I doubt these are changes that will make it into the game, I'm afraid I have to agree with The Shape. The last four (three) class updates were all bad. They're going to keep shoving slowdowns and speedups and knockbacks down our throats because someone there thinks it's a great idea. I 100% guarantee we'll see at least 2 more knockbacks make it into the game.

The funny thing is, even with all the awful patching this year, TF2 is still my all time favorite FPS. I'd even put it above CS 1.1/1.3 and TFC. The iconic style paired with the fluid game play make for one heck of a game.

I think everyone who used the ubersaw is a cheater, everyone who sticked to the origninal bonesaw should get a hat for it

I think anyone who played spy is a cheater. Anyone with less than 10 hous played with the class should get a hat.

;)

Guys this has probably been posted by now but this idea was junked the testers hated noone needs to worry about these. Now they may do something to the bonesaw and syringe gun which would be better off. THE IDEA WAS JUNKED DONT MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT.

I think what valve is trying to do is get more players to use the regular weapons and imo it'd be a bad idea. It'd be better to ramp up the normal weapon dps.

Eh, those are testers for you.
I would REALLY recommend against buffing the medic DPS in any way. He's pretty darn deadly already, and we want to promote a playstyle where the medic does what he's supposed to do, HEAL people.

So, how many different ways ARE there to play medic?
The best, medics run from any battle they can't win, which is most of the time they're alone. The blut and Ubersaw are risk/reward items: Do something the medic is not good at (combat) to get a bonus (health/uber). Pretty big and important bonuses, but dangerous due to the medic's low health and priority target status.

Actually, I remember reading a couple suggested buffs somewhere, and I think they would be very appropriate. The regular needle gun would have a passive regeneration bonus, perhaps an extra point of health or two per tic. The regular bonesaw would give a passive bonus to charge rate, maybe 2 or 3 seconds quicker. Thus, the regular weapons give a small but appreciable bonus for no extra cost, and the alternates give a larger bonus at the risk of getting into combat.

I like those ideas McP. That's exactly the kind of thinking the game needs. Small bonuses, not retardedly OP weapons like the FAN.
