Please! Crits are not random or lucky! 2% chance is really rare.

So I find it hard to believe that you people complain about getting shot every fiftieth time; you should understand now that it is because people are on a roll. It is an essential game mechanic. However, for scrims they are turned off because they don't even want that 2% base chance.

How many times do you fire a weapon in TF2? Not to mention it can ramp up to 12%, and melee weapons can ramp up to a 25% chance for an instant kill on every class but the Soldier (who will only survive if at full health and would be left with a scant 5 health) and the Heavy.

And how in any way is it an essential game mechanic? The game plays completely fine without it. The fact that most people prefer the game without it says a lot about how essential it is to the game.

Um, every fiftieth time is pretty bad when you consider how much shooting goes on lol.

Fact: I don't know, and the enemy doesn't know when the enemy will get a crit
Fact: Crits kill me in places normal shots wouldn't

Fact: Getting killed by an unavoidable crit is a death that resulted only from luck, and not due to my skill or the opponent's skill

yes. but how many times did a crit save you?

its a double edge sword.

I love my crits.
and hate other people's crits! :facewall:

but in the end, Crits are fun. How else can you kill a heavy with a medic behind him as a soldier? spam some rockets, get your crit chance up. and boom you might get a crit and kill them without needing anyone else to help you.

To be honest, I'd rather die in a fight I wasn't supposed to win than win because I got a lucky crit in.

And it is VERY easy to kill a Heavy-Medic as a soldier. Splash damage and kill the medic, and juggle the Heavy to death. It's pretty simple.

Wow some of you care way to much about this.....LOL

Some people are trying to make TF2 into some kind of competitive skill fest :)

i dont know what kind of heavy medic combo you're fighting....

but. say its a good medic/heavy combo. and the medic isnt a very good target with the heavy gunning at you.

your best bet would to spam rockets at the heavy, get your crit chance up. and hope for a crit landing. which would kill the heavy.

Your best chance would be to rocket jump away and fight another day...

Why would you engage in a fight you couldn't realistically win?

If you manage to position yourself correctly around a corner or above the heavy-medic by rocketjumping, you wouldn't have to depend on the crit, anyway.

+1. I hate crits, and I hate getting spewing out crits myself. Even though I am pretty "unlucky", I hardly get crits anyway. Also,a nocrit [BY "NOCRIT", IT MEANS NO RANDOM CRITICALS, BUT TRIGGERED CRITICALS SUCH AS KGB, KRITZKRIEG, HEADSHOTS, BACKSTABS, ETC AREN'T AFFECTED BY IT] server would be nice.

I now understand why colleges say that probability and statistics should be a required class LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I think we're rapidly approaching the point where you have to say to yourselves:

"Am I posting anything new?"
"Am I just arguing for argument's sake now?"
"Is this still a discussion or are people just talking past each other?"

and most importantly: "Is it time to agree to disagree?"

As the eGO's have already read in eGO private, the Leadership team has an idea to satisfy, at least on a short-term basis, people on both sides. Those of you who are e's, eG's, and public non-members will have to wait for more details. Hopefully announced soon.

I'm not going to say any more on this...

Uh, yes crits are necessary to make mel?e viable in a real game - as you say it doesn't kill as soldier even on a crit. 12% on weapons is completely justifiable because you have just killed 6 people. And check the vote.

No, like I said, crits are a reward for doing well in the past twenty seconds - you don't have to know when they come exactly but you can expect them (try it out next time you kill four people in a row). They are just like a headshot - a kind of bonus for good players: they are supposed to be deadly.

Fact: Someone who manages to do enough damage to your team, and then successfully aim a shot (which turns out to be a crit) that you can't dodge, is almost definately skill. Otherwise it is a one in fifty shot occurence that just happens to be against you, and even then they aimed it right, which is actually quite rare.

I think I have put forward enough of my argument now, please accept that on public servers, crits are most welcome. If you are one of the competitive players you should love them because you should be getting so many on public servers...

The random crits are a way for a sniper to have a chance against a heavy as to say...Its a love/hate relationship for me

I don't see what there is to argue/disagree about. There is no right opinion. It's like someone saying "CTF is the best!" and someones replies "No PL is!" then the first person says "No it's not, you're wrong, stupid!"

There is no right. It's a matter of opinion. Everyone can have their own, but they shouldn't try to force it upon anyone.

+1 FreakingHell.
And on that note, I hereby declare this thread:
