New Graphics Card

It's only $30-40, but it was backed by a great company so it was worth it.

Well at the Best Buy I went to 3 weeks ago, they still had COD4 for $60.

$60 for COD4 = expensive
They were as cheap as like around $30 at one point

No thats not the reason a GTX 260 was so expensive.........they are all expensive right now, all Nvidia cards have been jacked up in price and their price don't equal their performance right now

Get this 5770 for now then:

Its cheapest one and its overclocked and the Fan looks decent, its non-reference i think but the fan also isn't the really cheap looking one like this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161317&cm_re=5770-_-14-161-317-_-Product
Those fans suck compared to the regular HSF and the one on the MSI/Sapphire Vapor-x

Everyone is giving the teardrop fan a bad rap, but it works fine if you dont go for an insane overclock

I would stay clear of HIS. There support is....ah who am I kidding, what support?

XFX on the other hand is great. If you RMA something, they'll send a new one no questions asked.

I laughed so hard at the 4th review.

The guy is complaining about not having a Crossfire bridge, when they cost like 99 cents on Ebay. I actually have like 4-5 in my closet. And he says it's half the speed of a 4870 O.o

this is why you need to read reviews not just look at the stars :facewall:

I vote wait for the 300 series to come out and buy a cheaper 285gtx or a 275gtx or buy a reduced ati 5000 series.

lol a cheaper GTX 285 would equal the price of a 5850 yet perform slower and be older tech.......the 300 series won't come out till like 2-4 months atleast

As for whoever recommended that XFX, i wasn't recommending an HIS, i was saying how i dislike the teardrop fan and how its worse than the regular HSF like on the 5850/5870

This is only a temporary card so i recommended the MSI one which has a better fan than the Teardrop and the XFX you posted yet costing less at around $147 and its also overclocked

Since the source engine is heavily CPU bound upgrading the GPU will make the FPS increase in source games minimal at best, you won't suddenly get 30-40 more FPS in source.

true but hes talking about all his games in general at 1920x1080 which is the new high resolution he plays at........also, if his old card is really crappy, a new GPU like this may actually help alot, he has a decent CPU, enough to run source games max......the 4650 isn't too great though and is wats holding him back at 1920x1080

Uh, don't tell me you're serious.
A new dual core at 3.5GHz being a bottleneck? (That's what you're implying)
