HEllo, I have a gaming laptop, in fact here it is, from new egg where i got it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114804

Well, i noticed about a month ago that i have another slot for a HDD. So i finally have the money for it and i would like to get a 1 tb hard drive. (i've had some bad experiences with external HDD's, in both them crashing and there lack of convenience.) I have 2 concerns before buying this HDD

1. The first glaring problem is that the hard drive usually has to be bigger for it to be 1 tb. Now, I would think that my labtop could handle it because it is huge, but i have read reviews of other monster labtops not being able to hold the HDD. i looked though the manual and couldn't find anything on this. So if someone else knows, or knows of a way to tell, I would appreciate it.

2. Then next problem i have is I want a HDD that is reliable. Like i said, in the past i've had problems with the hard drives just dying, and i dont want to go though the hassle of replacing it. So if any one has any suggestions of good, 1 tb internal labtop hard drives, i would appreciate that as well. There are 4 on new egg, and i don't know how to tell the difference between good and bad ones. as far as price goes, i would say 150 is my upper limit for spending.

A 1TB 2.5" drive? I'll look.

Lol, they don't have any of those.

I'm not sure what you mean by, they don't have any of those.

That's what newegg has. If I were you, I would get something smaller though.
Yea, those are the ones I'm referring to. And by smaller do you mean lass space. Are there really no good 1tb internal labtop hard drives?

Oh derp. I missed the laptop harddrive category. lol. Laptops use 2.5" drives.

I'd get the Samsung over the rest.

They are insanely fast, but the capacities are not as high as the OP wants.

I love my SSD, but I also have a 1TB storage drive

Once I get some more money, I am getting SF-New based 60-120GB/64-128GB SSD for OS, and two 2TB harddrives for storage. I will probably sell this F3 in favor of another 2TB drive. RAID 5, anyone?

I would not get any of the 1tb drives, they are all 5400RPM which feels really slow (i would know, I am using one right now).

Get a smaller one that is 7200RPM

like that

I felt like anything less than 1tb would defeat the purpose of having an internal hard drive. I went with the samsung one.

The two concerns i had was, it not fitting in my machine, and it failing. I get a 2 year warranty with it, so that should help, and if it doesn't fit i can always buy a 2.5" external case for it.

why would it not fit?

5400 RPM just feels so slow. I guess the platter density of the 1TB drive could make up for it though..
