Blackmesa commentary

I feel the same way about Mesa. It was a great place to play, it was fun and competitive and I met a lot of other great friendly players. It is my most favorite map by far and I will miss it for sure.

I think there is something to what Pepper said in the video about Mesa kinda making Edgegamers what it is. With the map being made by a member, Dragonhill, and being scarce elsewhere, Blackmesa seems to be a kind of trademark for eGO as far as TF2 goes.

I have, similarly to you all, had and made many great memories on Mesa. It is the only server that I have ever played on that had the capability to both be filled with a slew of fantastic TF2 players and not twenty minutes later both teams are trying to see how tall a stack of players they can get on A point. It's been fun, challenging and goofy all in one.

Mesa isn't what got me into eGO but it has given me the most fun from gaming in recent memory. Blackmesa will be missed.

I've been hosting a mesa serveron and off this whole week...and seen quite a few people join it.

I joined eGO after playing constantly on 2fort InstaSpawn...I stayed once I found Blackmesa! My 14 year-old son has only ever played on those two servers and after experiencing Blackmesa, he never visited 2fort again.

It was (and still is) one of the best maps I've played.

I just hope people get the true message I think Pepper was trying to convey, that this is not something to leave eGO about, but its also not something we should just let happen and not question. We should make leadership be more transparent about these kind of things, but also we need to realize what is possible and not possible. I will miss mesa, but I wont rage quit over it. I filled our servers and would join mesa at the end of the day to enjoy myself. I dont know about other people, but I will still fill our servers even though I miss mesa more then I let on.

exactly my point. Thanks for summing it up.

PepperRabbit.... just THANK YOU

I miss my Mesa buddies really, it's become a part of my life, a habit, something I actually miss when I'm away on travel for a couple of days, I had great fun, a lot of raging now and then too but mostly fun. Enjoyed dominating Thereven and Frisky a lot :chair:.

It was sad when the server moved, by then we lost many great players. I still remember my epic duels with Seishun and Stefan.

Anyway, I'm sure I'm speaking for many of my friends, Mesa was a special map, a special place, I logged a lot of time there and many times it was just me Harry, Human and Exee messing around, trying some jumps or playing with teleporters, and even then... it was really fun. If there's any chance of bringing it back under eGO... I'd really appreciate it. Otherwise...well I can rent a server and set it up with HLX I guess :D

Nice Pepper :))

Sadly.. after the server was moved, we lost so many players. Whether they just couldnt find it or maybe because so many people complained about just not being able to play on the server because of the lag. I did experience bad lag spikes from time to time.. but not like some other people did. I remember seeing it written in chat often, at any rate.

Moving that server was the Kiss of Death for Mesa.

It had a lot of core players, that have been playing there since its creation. That came to be like the Mesa family. I know for myself and Masterpiece we have played every night.. barring a few here and there when it just wasnt possible.. due to RL things. We played sometimes for only 30 mins or other times for 2 or 3 hours. But we were there and loved being there.

It was evident a few weeks ago.. at times I would arrive for my nightly Mesa trip to find with great sadness that it was empty at prime time. It was incredible to go from a server that at times, there were so many people in the queue, you just couldnt get in there. I have personally waited over 40 mins just to get in there sometimes even longer.. but it was always worth it. Arriving at prime time to find the server empty was so disheartening.. a few of us would run around having fun with melee waiting for others to join..

I am very sad for it to go.. but I have to say.. we had a great run and I have many many fond memories from my time playing there. I still have the urge to play tf2 but I am finding it difficult to find somewhere that feels as homey as Mesa did.. but I am sure we will find a new home to play. Dragonhill created something special with this map and I am very glad to have been there for all the tests and to be able to of played on it as much as we did.

Mesa will definitely be missed.

i'm gonna miss you two. had some great times with you and masterpiece on mesa. take care my tf2 friends...
