I ultimately said Daniel Craig because he's quickly cemented himself as the definitive Bond in my opinion. My real answer however is slightly more complex. Each actor brought a different aspect to Bond.

Sean Connery of course has the benefit of being the first and because he's awesome in his own right.

Lazenby could have brought something to the table unfortunately he had to be in one of the worst written Bond movies IMO. At least Roger Moore's campy Bond seemed to make sense and fit Roger Moore as an actor although I wasn't into that Bond so Roger Moore is unfortunately not even in my running for the best.

Timothy Dalton was I believe the only Shakespearean trained actor and it really shows in his two movies. His two movies along with Goldeneye which IIRC was originally written for Dalton used to be my top 3 movies until Casino Royale as well putting him up there as what used to be my 2nd favorite Bond.

Brosnan was a good Bond that introduced the new generation to Bond unfortunately him being the more techy Bond made every movie written for him, considering that Goldeneye was allegedly written for Dalton, have to emphasize that to the detriment of the story in my opinion.

Daniel Craig just seems to embody a BAMF suave agent in my opinion. The relatively less extreme nature of his movies also make him a more believable Bond while still allowing him to be that BAMF dude.

If I were to do a top 3 I'd have to go,

1. Sean Connery/Daniel Craig (Okay so im kinda cheating putting them on equal ground)
2. Timothy Dalton
3. Pierce Brosnan( By virtue of Lazenby and Moore not being contenders for best in my mind)

And just for the hell of it my top 3 movies,

1. Goldeneye
2. Casino Royale
3. Goldfinger

I think Craig's Bond is really interesting. It was awful in Quantum of Solace though.

Brosnan is best.

Personally its hard to decide between Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery, but if i had to chose, it would be Pierce.

Only seen a few. Even though i have the entire collection sitting under my desk.
:P
Looks like tonight is a movie night. ^_^

Sean Connery will always be the best, no debate is even allowed.

Have to go with Brosnan. He made the whole 007 franchise for me.

wishthis was a multiple choice , would of picked connery and craig

I picked Pierce Brosnan myself but I also like Sean Connery and Daniel Craig.

I think there's a problem with the poll, there seems to be a choice other than "Sean Connery."

It's an honest mistake.

I don't have a solid opinion on this because I've only watched Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig version. If I have to choose, I will choose Daniel Crag though. :D

Sean Connery is the legend but my vote went to Pierce Brosnan who i think is the best guy to play him purely based on what Bond was described as in the books he is the spitting image of the guy described

I'm glad there are so many opinions on this matter!

For me personally, Sean Connery IS James Bond. He made the character and without him being the trailblazer for the Bond enterprise, I don't know if it would have the continued success that we see today.

That being said, Daniel Craig is an incredible Bond. He plays a much more darker, almost disturbed, yet very human Bond. Of course the modern technology of visual effects definitely help the overall appeal of the new Bond movies, but I still think Craig and his acting is what carries the films.

So while Craig is a close number one, I still have to say that there is no Bond like THE Bond, Sean Connery.

1. Sean Connery
2. Daniel Craig
3. Roger Moore
4. Pierce Brosnan
5. Timothy Dalton
6. George Lazenby

Read a book. Bond is a dark, solitary, "psychopath with a conscience."

1. Daniel Craig: the role is still developing, and one film every 2-3 years will not allow him to do it much longer, but he has a great "dark" quality;

2. Sean Connery: the original;

3. Pierce Brosnan: could have gone straight to #1, but too comedic. I consider it poor writing for an actor almost literally born for the part;

4. George Lazenby: recently watched him again, and wish he's been able to try another film or two;

5. Timothy Dalton: like Brosnan, suffered from poor writing and poorer storylines;

6. Roger Moore: I know lots of people like him, but his are ridiculous comedies, not action thrillers. Comic book villains, and even more comic book henchmen? Really?
