I just want to retort to the claims that we need 'Classic casual, demolition, office' for CS:GO. We had all of these modes and maps. Yet, the servers still stayed empty. When we launched CS:GO within the division we had 5 servers. They were all popular for about a week. After that, they were empty constantly. The same holds true for GG, it was popular for about a week. With CS:GO we have even tried a tournament to encourage the 'competitive' style of play that has also been mentioned as an alternative to GG in this thread. We had a total of 42 entrants in the CS:GO 1v1 tournament. I think that maybe 35 people showed up on the day of the tournament. We even offered up $200 for first place, CASH. With all of that planning, publicity, and FREE MONEY, we still couldn't get people into even the practice server for the tournament map. That practice server had a total of like 50 connections in the entire month it was up.
We certainly won't be retrying things that we have done just in the last 6 months without success. As MGR stated, 9 leadership members can't do it all. We need your help in maintaining the success of our servers. Without community support the server list will dwindle rather than grow. Please remember that the next time your favorite server comes up on the chopping block. If you aren't in there inviting your friends to fill it, don't expect it to stick around.
I am not sure if you all think we get paid or that someone other than the leadership members provide these cash prizes that we have had lately, but we don't get paid and we do provide our own cash prizes for the most part. Bear spent $200 of his own money on those Steam cards for the D2DM contest last month. Not only the money but the time that it takes to setup these servers or write plugins is a huge undertaking. What I am trying to say is that we, as your divisional leadership, work very hard to ensure that our members have fun servers to play on as well as contests and tournaments with cash prizes to play for. Only to see some people complain that we don't do enough to fill these servers or provide the game modes that the community wants. So, before you bash the leadership team for not supporting your favorite server or tell us that we don't fill servers enough, take a moment to think about how much work we have to do just to maintain these servers and contests and the money we take from our own pockets to offer prizes. We give you all the servers to play on, so how about just being happy with what we do and playing on them? With time and support, we could have as many servers as we want almost. We just need to establish the current servers in a respectable ranking before moving on to another.
I think people missed the point of the thread Judge.
What you, edge gamers, need to take from this, is realize what leadership is doing for the servers you "want".
Realize how much money, time, and effort they are putting in, for FREE.
To be honest, if bear spent as much time coding programs for distribution and sale, he would have made real good money, instead he coded plugins. I can name 3 at least on the event server he made. Jail, admin plugins, dust 2 deathmatch, a few sourcemod interacting things.
When you want a new server, a lot has to go into it. And really, if it failed already, why would leadership want to spend DAYS setting up something they know you wont play?
I wanted to get ideas from this thread to
1) get people into Gun game
2) get support for Gun game
3) look at what is keeping you from Gun game (what would make it favorable to you)
Lets stay on topic, and maybe stop begging leadership for X server. If you want a server, go make it yourself and fund it yourself, and watch your money go down the drain and learn the hard way what leadership goes through to be ridiculed by you because what you asked for and begged for isnt good enough to support it. I dont wanna sound like a hard ass, but this seems to come up everywhere all the time.
Enjoy what you have, before its gone. If you wanted CS:GO competitive deathmatch, you should've played on it
