Thoughtful Discussion: CS:GO Gun Game

I think if we made a cs:go server based on a map which most of our members join. For example if office gets the most members connecting on a daily average then make a cs:go office server and have a plug in in the css server that enters something like "Try the new cs:go office" or something along those lines. I believe this would show regulars and regular members that we support there favourite map on cs:go.

I do remember we once had the same cs:go maps as cs:s at one stage but that was when the game was broken. Now with all the updates put into it, it is a playable and enjoyable game.

tl;dr: Replicate our most member played map into cs:go and advertise it via a plug-in on the css servers.

I'm not a huge fan of Gun Game in general. I like it, but not all the time. So, we could rotate it. Do like a minigame "hour" or something like that. To be honest, I don't really like CS:GO compared with CS:S ( No, I'm not bashing the game ). So for me, I'd like a normal server with the usual game modes, Hostages, Bomb & a few more ( new ones to me ). Since I'm a hardcore CS:S fan. So, in order to get me on the CS:GO server it would take:

  • Other game types; or at least some variety.
  • More eGO players on the server, so it feels like a big fun party.

I just want to retort to the claims that we need 'Classic casual, demolition, office' for CS:GO. We had all of these modes and maps. Yet, the servers still stayed empty. When we launched CS:GO within the division we had 5 servers. They were all popular for about a week. After that, they were empty constantly. The same holds true for GG, it was popular for about a week. With CS:GO we have even tried a tournament to encourage the 'competitive' style of play that has also been mentioned as an alternative to GG in this thread. We had a total of 42 entrants in the CS:GO 1v1 tournament. I think that maybe 35 people showed up on the day of the tournament. We even offered up $200 for first place, CASH. With all of that planning, publicity, and FREE MONEY, we still couldn't get people into even the practice server for the tournament map. That practice server had a total of like 50 connections in the entire month it was up.

We certainly won't be retrying things that we have done just in the last 6 months without success. As MGR stated, 9 leadership members can't do it all. We need your help in maintaining the success of our servers. Without community support the server list will dwindle rather than grow. Please remember that the next time your favorite server comes up on the chopping block. If you aren't in there inviting your friends to fill it, don't expect it to stick around.

I am not sure if you all think we get paid or that someone other than the leadership members provide these cash prizes that we have had lately, but we don't get paid and we do provide our own cash prizes for the most part. Bear spent $200 of his own money on those Steam cards for the D2DM contest last month. Not only the money but the time that it takes to setup these servers or write plugins is a huge undertaking. What I am trying to say is that we, as your divisional leadership, work very hard to ensure that our members have fun servers to play on as well as contests and tournaments with cash prizes to play for. Only to see some people complain that we don't do enough to fill these servers or provide the game modes that the community wants. So, before you bash the leadership team for not supporting your favorite server or tell us that we don't fill servers enough, take a moment to think about how much work we have to do just to maintain these servers and contests and the money we take from our own pockets to offer prizes. We give you all the servers to play on, so how about just being happy with what we do and playing on them? With time and support, we could have as many servers as we want almost. We just need to establish the current servers in a respectable ranking before moving on to another.

I think the problem is we are marketing the server wrong; the servers should show players it is a place for them to practice outside of competitive matchmaking. We should capitalize on statistics and stock maps. A full blown competitive scene is what CS:GO has; unlike CS:S where there are minigames and other less competitive game modes. I say we get a demolition and Classic Casual Rotation; we would be getting all the maps with the right game modes, so players would not have a reason to complain about the server.

[tl;dr]OK, so you get a large following for a week, maybe two. Then what? People lose interest and we are back where we started. Take dust2 deathmatch for example. After we tried so hard with a contest to get the server filled (which did work for the duration), members and leadership alike stopped going into the server to help fill it. If you look below you we see the servers decline over the past few days.

As you can tell, it just recently has been dropping in spots, but is no longer what it once was. Getting a following means nothing if we are just going to leave servers empty just a few weeks later. It happened with rotation, zombie, and now deathmatch and gun game in CS:GO. I feel that CS:GO Gun Game cannot sustain itself as it is and even if we try to get a following it will most likely die within a month like almost every other server we have tried.

My two cents, bye gun game. Focus on other servers.

*Note this is simply my opinion. You do not have to agree with my opinion.*

That's because the server is for Source and not csgo, players that play deathmatch are attempting to get better at the game usually. I personally can't play gun game, it's just horrible and frustrating... but that's just me.

But hey... you never know :D

The CS:GO GG server is updated and running. I wasn't aware that anyone was having connection problems. Please let me know if there are any issues in the future by sending me a PM.

I think people missed the point of the thread Judge.

What you, edge gamers, need to take from this, is realize what leadership is doing for the servers you "want".

Realize how much money, time, and effort they are putting in, for FREE.

To be honest, if bear spent as much time coding programs for distribution and sale, he would have made real good money, instead he coded plugins. I can name 3 at least on the event server he made. Jail, admin plugins, dust 2 deathmatch, a few sourcemod interacting things.

When you want a new server, a lot has to go into it. And really, if it failed already, why would leadership want to spend DAYS setting up something they know you wont play?

I wanted to get ideas from this thread to

1) get people into Gun game
2) get support for Gun game
3) look at what is keeping you from Gun game (what would make it favorable to you)

Lets stay on topic, and maybe stop begging leadership for X server. If you want a server, go make it yourself and fund it yourself, and watch your money go down the drain and learn the hard way what leadership goes through to be ridiculed by you because what you asked for and begged for isnt good enough to support it. I dont wanna sound like a hard ass, but this seems to come up everywhere all the time.

Enjoy what you have, before its gone. If you wanted CS:GO competitive deathmatch, you should've played on it

Well my opinon is that It cant hold its self up cause people just dont want to.
I tried filling earlier today even with mgr sending a annoucment and me giveing free games away. It just couldnt sustain itself it even with leadership, it just wouldnt fill.I even saw complaints from pubs saying our server was bad.If we have people in the community who want it to stay why not support it? when i joined it was empty and from the looks of how it went it might stay empty for awhile.

Not entirely sure where to post this, so it's going here. I can't even connect to the gun game server. Whenever I click connect I just get booted back to the home screen.
