eGO hardcore server?!?

Yup, I hear killer complaining about...most of time.

BF2 had a forgive or punish system for team killing. Couldn't someone make a system where if you were punished for TK 3-5 times the game would temp ban you?

I don't know that my opinion counts for much right now, or even should really, but I stepped away from softcore for good a couple of months ago. I'm currently lucky to get an hour of gaming in at night after the house has gone to bed and I just don't have the patience to fill a server with limited time. I can't even remember how long it's been since I played on our servers. We bring back HC and it's hopping after 22:00 PST, I'll play it, but until I've got more free time I shouldn't be counted on for a whole lot of support.

Such a system already exists. It just isn't on the server.

Plus, I'm not sure if that's the issue. We've had BF3 hardcore servers in the past, and we also have a BC2 hardcore server, all of them without the plugin. I think it's a non-issue.

Hardcore +1
Alright guys as much as I would like to see some diversity in game modes/dlc I have to admit that our servers are struggling enough as it is and Hardcore will not fill the servers by itself. You guys want to see this happen? Try recruiting and filling the darn servers I'm tired of spending time filling servers just to have them die when I actually get to play.

now...now...no need to get your jimmies rustled. We just merely having discussion

Sigh.. you sad sad creatures. Lets play history!

Minecraft Division wanted an FTB server. Leadership said fill the vanilla server and recruit.

BF division wants something other than vanilla. Leadership says fill the vanilla server and recruit.

We really wont know how the servers will do until bf4 comes out, the game is sure to change with the massive amount of people switching over to bf3, so we'll see how it turns out and maybe we will get a hardcore server, maybe we wont.

While I would like all eGO members to be happy, this question is posed every few months, and generally there's a 50/50 split, followed by a hardcore server being added and sitting idly. At the moment, I think it's best for us to keep the servers we have so that we can prepare and recruit for Battlefield 4. When the time comes to choose server setups for BF4, hardcore is always an option, and maybe if we can keep the server highly ranked from the beginning, it will solve our problem at the root.

Essentially you answered your own question: a hardcore server is always in demand, but rarely, if ever, successful. For whatever reason, we don't have the supporters we need to keep one running.

I'm one of the other hardcore fans, and its honestly why I've been playing minecraft [addict, sorry] so much. Lack of hardcore makes me sad, but PBJ is right, there's no reason to get worked up over it when the new gamedrop is just on the horizon. I shall wait.

This has no bearing on recruitment what so ever. Yes I know we need to recruit. However this is a discussion on hard core server. I think we need one personally. I have no problem jumping on one of our servers if an admin is needed. However I am totally burnt out on normal mode. I think a hardcore server would be a great recruiting tool. If it was setup and run properly. Not to say that our servers aren't setup and run great. They are I just think hardcore players demand more from a server then normal mode players. We need to research what they look for in a server and model our server after others out there...

the IAF servers I play on do have the vote next map feature as well as the forgive/punish teamkill feature and it seems to work very well. They also have a admin function as well where someone can call an admin with a !admin "msg" and it will be sent to an admin not sure how that one works but that would be something to look into as well. Although I think it would be misused they also have a tban function you can call a vote to temporarily ban someone for a set amount of time and everybody who agrees votes. If a majority votes then that person is banned for that amount of time. Although as many times as I have played on the servers I have only seen that function used once and it did pass. So I don't know if is used a lot. But the IAF servers are premium servers so might be a lot of competition players on there.

Overall a hardcore server is harder to admin since you have team damage and all. But its highly more satisfying game play if you ask me. H4L! = Hardcore 4 Life!

Well, this discussion about hard core servers is what I like to see. I think you all know (and if you didn't now you do) that I prefer hardcore. Tipton was very open about why we are where we are at today with our configs. Trust me I begged these guys for a HC server but this is where it ties into recruitment. We have been very flat in recruitment. In fact we are the worst division in EGO at it this year. We have has less recruits on a monthly bases than any other division. We have just recently started to edge out COD the last two months but they are in a really rough spot so that is not really saying anything. In plain terms I would be excited to out recruit the Minecraft division right now... We need two servers that populate easily so we have a large base to recruit from. We are at 14 recruits for the month as of today and we average about 20 a month. If you guys can get rolling on recruitment we can do what ever we want with #1 all pops map server.

Why is recruitment important?
- Server filling is easier
- the more members we have the more servers we can support
- the more servers we have the more game types we can play on our servers = more fun
- This is great practice for BF4 and our propensity for recruitment will also determine how many servers we can have when we launch BF4.

So please recruit. I think we have a great tool in battlelog. If you see someone play for a few rounds.. go on battlelog and hooah the achievements. Make the pubs feel like they are a part of the community and you won't even have to pitch them on joining. Just send them a link to our application. http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/cmps_index.php?pageid=application

If the people here who want a HC server only recruit 1 person this month.. we will have nearly doubled where we are today. So lets say we get 35 recruits before the end of the month you can have your server.

Did I mention we have a recruitment contest running with PRIZES?

I now know that I must recruit. I want that HC server!!!!!!!!!!!

If you really want to recruit.. why don't you rename one of the servers along the lines of "eGO gaming and recruiting server" or something? That way people who do want to be recruited will see the server name and join it and ask questions like "how do I join eGO?"

Want more recruits? Make a recruiting server.

GENIUS!

Adding that to the list of things to try.
