Dust2 server

Yea I am on dust 2 all the time and its a constant issue. More admins would be great, no matter how much us regular e's try some people don't understand the server rules :(

I try my best to admin Dust_2. My skills are slowly getten back to me like the old days, But thanks to my disabilty sometimes i have truble with a few commands. so it slows me down

Thanks for the support everyone, there are also a lot of =(e)= regulars too. I think making the
U # "message" more known to players would encourage them to use it more, or even let others know that it's still an option. It is sometimes hard to see the automated broadcast message when you're in a gunfight or trying to clutch a 1v5 situation! Thanks

This is a great point, I've mentioned a couple times to people that I'd just use the # command to message the admins and tell them we need someone in dust2, and most of the time people have no idea what I'm talking about. Most people, at this point, at least seem familiar with @ to contact the admins in server.

As other people have said, though, it is really hard to get in to take care of things, especially if its because there's a half dozen AFKs taking up spots. As someone who pretty much plays in dust2 exclusively, I know there's been quite a few times where I used # and an admin came eventually, but the first thing they usually say when they get in is "man, took me forever to get in here".

Some more admins playing on dust2 regularly would be great (I know Camping Carl's been in a lot lately, and Bonez, Crypto, and RedNoob play dust2 really frequently), because I know there's been times where an admin is called for a variety of reasons, and it's great that there's usually a pretty quick response, but as soon as they leave the people breaking the rules (camping spawn all round, annoying teamflashing, mic spamming/language, etc.) just start up again.

Add me as a friend on steam, If you ever see a problem you can allways message me

My two cents:

Personally, I'm not a big fan of dust. Whenever I play there, I rarely enjoy it. I bleed points moreso than any other server, usually. I prefer to be on Italy or mini-games because I enjoy whats there, so I'm there more.

With that said, I feel like people don't know about the # in team chat. I mean, it does display itself auto-magically in chat every once in awhile, but most people don't understand the idea. Or, people don't read chat at all.

Also, I think what Actuary said about admins not being able to get in could be a somewhat easy fix. Maybe hold one or two slots back so that in the case that the server hits capacity, an admin can get in and resolve any issues.

Also, I know that sometimes, I would prefer to be messaged via steam about the issue. That way I have a log of who requested me and when the request came through. Also, a message via Steam can have FAR more detail than the chat limit of the # function.

I've been playing for a while now on the D2 server and it is always filled with excitement, fun and crazy rushes. The one thing it's lacking is admins. During any given time, it'll either have no admins or one on duty. It is difficult sometimes to restrain the players that cause uproar and chaos to even the small switching/kicking afks. Not trying to discredit or make anyone look bad, but the "regular" admins I usually not on server when i am on

Using the # in team chat to contact admins through Global Chat is much simpler and quicker for players in-game. Having to go through Steam friends list to find a potential admin, Steam messaging them, and waiting for them to respond and hop on actually takes a lot longer than it seems. Admins are usually on the servers and will notice when the text from other servers pops up.

Plus, saving one or two spots would be nice but what if an admin doesn't join? That's one or two possible spots that a pubber cannot have, so the server gets even more backed up with potential players waiting to join. Brings our server rankings down and has pubbers complain about those potential one or two spots being saved exclusively for admins.

Isn't it possible to allow the server to fill up, but then auto-kick someone if an admin tries to join? Not that doing so would stop the complaining, the person who winds up getting kicked wouldn't be too happy about it.

And by the way, thanks for coming in so quick last night after I used #. :)

Every time I go on the server is always full. I'll sit there for 5-10 minutes waiting for a spot to open up. I think if an admin (eGO) tries to join the server, especially if there aren't any other admins on, it should auto-kick a spectator if there are any, and I know for a fact that the Dust2 server has a TON of AFKs and spectators at times.

You're welcome :) anytime I'm on, I'm always ready to help.

And, auto-kicking a pubber, as you said, they wouldn't be too happy about it. But what happens if it auto-kicks an e? Or an eG? Or an eGO? If eGO were to create a system where it only kicks non-eGO members, players would eventually figure out the system and join up eGO, slap on an e tag, and game on. It is an interesting idea but there are many "what if's".

What if a player has just gone spectate that instant and gets kicked? The player would be both confused and upset. Having the system figure out who has been in spectate longest and kick that spectator means more plug-ins and downloads for everyone, which makes joining even longer. As admins, we are to be patient and deal with any and all situations accordingly. Like I said to Actuary, there's a lot of "what if's" involved with possible solutions to admining Dust2 better.

I think the only implementation I've seen is where the player with the highest latency gets kicked/specs get kicked.

I'd be interested to see if it could be set up to not kick eGo members to entice people to join.

The other simpler solution is more admins playing in dust2/more admins among the regular dust2 players so there's a better chance of someone being on/being able to get in.

There's a few problems I see with that but you can always Drop Box any ideas you have about Dust 2. But yes, more admins on Dust2 would be helpful.

I know, I'm just saying I prefer being messaged via steam chat.

I know. I realized this would be the case when i posted this.

The honest answer here is that there is no perfect solution. I mean, sure, we can try to have admins on in dust, but if its early morning the odds of having an admin in there, let alone another admin to assist, are slim.

This.

I know a few servers that have AFK Managers, that switch someone who hasn't moved for 4-5 Minutes in-game to Spectator. And after a few rounds or 10ish Minutes, it kicks them for being AFK. This would really benefit the server and it's constant stream of players trying to come in, as well as reduce the workload on Admins who are currently playing/on duty

Why are none of these issues in the dropbox?

The only reason why I even know this thread existed is because of the recent threads module we have on our front page.

Please, we're not mind readers, if you have problems let us know!

Hey Rednoob.. Nowadays i have been no other place than on D2, but i know what you saying. It sometimes gets annoying to manage it all when 48 players r playing, but it kinda comes with the territory. I'm usually online and on D2, you can always ping me if you add me on Steam. I'm always happy to help out..

I've gotten used to being kicked for reserved slots.

It's the pay for slots that are kept vacant that are problems imho.

eGO does not have reserved slots/pay for slots. If you are referring to other servers, then I do understand and sympathize with you.
