Bad Company 2 "I don't care about being an admin anymore" but this time I'm calmer

What I see in this continuing conversation is that none of you understand our policy is not to prevent the using of the dreaded "N" word, but to prevent the use of racist chat on our servers. The "N" word is used as an example of a racist word that is not allowed, but there are many others I have banned players for using, and yes there have been some that have come back to servers that they don't play on to contest the bans, and have had them lifted, and have gone on to play on our servers for a long time without further incidents, but I guess you don't want to know about those because that doesn't fit with how you want to EGO to look. You want to be the underdog fighting the establishment, and we are always wrong and you are always in the right no matter how many times you change your story line Tik.

Obtuse, perhaps, is a better word.

Is it always an insult, though? Someone comes onto the server and says "Hello My (variously spelled n words)!" and boink! "Banned:racism" You have no idea who the person is, their sex, colour, religious orientiation, how it the expression was intended - You know nothing...nada...zero, yet you feel justified in summary execution.

Words like the C-word are more insulting to a far larger portion of the population (except Australia) but it takes repeated offences to trigger someone's sensibilities for that one.

Bah...

You have the whole ban system wrong. Most racial slurs are given a warning, yes you might be kicked but now you know you can't say it and you don't have an excuse of not knowing. ITS LITERALLY THE FIRST RULE FOR EGO. There are words (variations) that are bannable, because under no circumstances regardless of your race or background you should say, and especially online you don't just call your friends this word not knowing what it means.

Philosophically speaking this is how it is:

1. We have a core principle for which EdgeGamers was founded on.
2. You don't believe in said established principle.
3. Therefor you don't believe in the very core the makes up EdgeGamers.

If you don't agree with us philosophically speaking, Why are you even here?

Can we end this thread? Thoughtful discussion is not happening productively at all here.

Good point. I'm not.

You are such a Mr. Hardass. You must have been one of the OG when you were a teen and have held pride of place in the clan since.

You're the guy that said I was bitching about changing the server message. You're the one who close the threads, and you're the one that had it changed *only* after it received the support it obviously should have.

I just don't like you. You're a bully and the king of gaslighting.

Show me where I changed the story. Show me where I abused the language. Show me where I claim to be the underdog.

And boys and girls...despite your offended position, all of what I have said is true. The uproar that I've cause by even *talking* about it without even USING it has you all in a tizzy.

Your reaction is dictionary "snowflake".

Maybe you should just admit that there are people do use that word in polite conversion. People *identify* with the word that shall not be spoken here.

That's not what's broken though.

See you ingame unless I've melted the ice crystals enough by offending so many damned poser snowflakes. jeez.

I know it can be frustrating without an admin because I was there not long ago. It is also frustrating trying to admin at times. When I see a complaint I ask who is it and what are they doing, when I finally get that info I send a warning to that person. If they comply I don't kick them, but everyone demands that I do, but I can't because Ego has rules and procedures that must be followed to insure fairness and equal treatment to everyone. It would help if players would give me feedback instead of just getting mad. I tell players that I sent a warning and let me know if it happens again and next time they are gone, but everyone just gets mad that I didn't kick em.

I'm a little lost on your camping comment, someone in a tank on a hill is what this whole map is about, I like having to root out those entrenched bastards.

I'm sorry you feel like help is not there, but it is, you can post here, private message, or teamspeak. I have always gotten a response and help when I needed it. I'm not real comfortable with teamspeak but have met some really great people on it. Hope to see you on the server having fun.

The ingame chat does get out of hand sometimes, it seems like harmless banter for the most part and I try not to involve myself but if it gets way out of bounds or is racist it just can't be tolerated because it would ruin this server very quickly.

And TIK I've worked on 3 Australian servers as an Admin & if you use the c word you were instantly TBanned . Many servers out there have No admins so people get away with what they want and thats where the trouble starts when they come to EGO as we care about the server they don't . That goes for the world not just Australia.

Hello,

I am sad to see the turn of this subject which is basic confusing for my part.

Nobody is perfect and no rule is perfect but before you want to change a rule, you must first understand it and to understand it sometimes you have to apply it and then you can have a real opinion about this rule.

When looking for a job and when possible, we target a company where the rules and working conditions meet our expectations. You will then always have a more or less long trial period which will prove your motivation and your skills related to this work and I find that normal! Once this period is over you are a real employee, and there you can start to discuss change or improvement for the company because you have accepted the basic rules and proven yourself within this company.

For my part becoming administrator = (eGO) = it's a bit the same thing with a big difference, we do it for fun and help the community.

I understand your requests and your frustration to become a administrator but we all went through it, and yes with a more or less long period and I think it's normal depending on the attitude of each.

Finally, before trying to change the rules you must first apply them, then and over time we can see that some can be improved or changed but I think the least that is to ask it correctly and especially calmly.

Enjoy and have fun in your live
