This is essentially a repost of @Dr. DaNk's post, but in the form of a suggestion so hopefully we can get some positive change out of this.
Basically the idea here is that instead of ct bans being ran down by regular time, the proposed change would make it instead use alive player time. There are multiple reasons why I and many other members of the eGO community would like to see this put in.
I will be going over why this should be put in, as well as a response to some of the same counter arguments that I see flung back every time this is suggested.
The Pros:
First and foremost, this would indirectly extend all bans as even for the smallest bans (15 mins) there is never 15 mins in a round so you would never get to perfectly run down the ban. This is very important to note because many Experienced players as well as toxic CT's will simply leave the server after breaking the rules and go have lunch just to comeback and rejoin CT.
This is a problem because it essentially nullifies the entire point of the punishment, which is to punish the user for breaking the rules. If that can be evaded by simply just doing something else then it defeats the purpose of the CT ban.
So then the effect of this would rationally be that people would be less likely to break the rules if they know that they wont have an easy way to get out of it. That in itself would reduce the amount of tedious work admins need to do if players break rules less.
Now, as I was reading Danks post, it seemed people would just echo the same arguments over and over so I will respond to a few here.
"Just server ban them if they are breaking rules that badly"
The issue with this is that there is a grey area between low-tier and mid-tier offenses (such as gunplanting, careless ct, bating etc.) That I think any reasonable member would agree that those offenses are not enough alone to warrant a server ban, but a simple 15 or 30 min ban of non-alive time could also be seen as not enough of a punishment, considering its very easy to work around the ban, that is the reason why so many members have requested that the ban system be changed.
"Not being able to play for x about of time is enough punishment"
The opinion that not being able to play for that amount of time is subjective to that person, same with my own idea that it isnt, so im not really sure to what to say other than opinion noted.
" some people only have limited time to play jb everyday and ur kinda hard locking players when you just ban them but a ctban that is active on and off the server"
No dis but did you even read what you posted (you know who you are). This is essentially excusing rule breaking with the reason that the offending player doesnt personally have enough time to play jb (which is a problem for the player to deal with, not an excuse for breaking rules.) And the fact that the CT bans runs down when your off the server is the entire reason why people are complaining in the first place.
Thank you for reading! Feel free to discuss what you think below!
