Counter-Strike Not Planned [CS JB] CTbans should only count alive time

The title pretty much explains my suggestion.
I think this has been discussed MANY times in other forums, in admin chat, in discord, and wherever else. On top of the general discussion, I also believe that most players agree: When someone has been CT banned, they should not be able to leave the server for x amount of time, to return after said amount of time, and instantly rejoin CT. The timer should only be ticking down when they are alive and well on T.

\o

EDIT:
After hearing you guys' points of view, I must admit that I agree with the person only being CT banned as long as they are on T side, not exclusively counting alive time.

The new suggestion would be as follows:

The timer of the CT ban only starts ticking down when the player is on the T side.

I really would prefer for CTBan to stay as it is. I believe if the server were to go straight to your idea of being spawned in as time served, then it would alter game-play negatively (delaying rounds to get time shaved off, Ts not rebelling so they spend more time alive, etc.)

A compromise I could agree with would be to have both time spent alive and dead (so just connected) count as time served towards their CTBan.
POV: Freekiller pov

the thing is if you get ct banned for like a LONG LONG LONG time im not going to wait for my alive time to be 14 days or something i would rather quit

Trully the best thing that could help about the behaviour of the Ct's and also reduce the toxicity in general. We can all agree that a lot of players who are banned from the CT team just quit the game after being swapped, no matters the duration or the reason, because all they want to do is playing as a CT and being toxic as hell. (shoutout BigDot lol)
Some just do something bad that leads to a CT ban because they have to leave the game soon... And then, the moment they join back, they can queue for the CT team... So they feel like there is no punishement for what they've done. And it the same thing for the "victim"

In my own experience, I have played on a lot of JB servers and they ALL had this type of ban duration system and clearly nobody was complaining about. It was even normal because it was helping to avoid and injustice feeling. Plus, when I discovered the EGO JB server, I was even asking myself what was this weird ban system because there was some ways to avoid your CT ban...
But, obviously, it didn't make disappear the toxicity. But it has clearly helped to reduce the careless attitude of many players and increase the quality of the server.
Because we can easily agree that it's really boring to see someone breaking the rules and not being punished for that, especially when its not the first time... (When I say punish, I mean that the fact they disconnect themselves is not really a way to make them understand they are sanctionned and the others players understand that the CT swap can be avoid just by leaving)

However, if you do shit, then it's clearly normal that you have to be punished for this and, unfortunatelly, it means that you need to wait a certain moment for being able to play again as a CT. So the argument of "I don't want to wait" doesn't work, considering that we are only talking about 60 minutes maximum and also because you're CT banned for a reason ffs lol

And for the players who could consider this type of ban system too excessive and, therefore, decides to become more toxic (for example by doing some revenge stuff, having a spoiled child attitude, delaying the round or other manners like that) just to show off their frustration / destroy the experience of the others players, then those kind of persons have nothing to do on the EGO servers.

But anyways, if this ban system is added, i'm totally sure that it would only bring positive results for all the players in general and also for the admins

Thank's Sophey :D

I also agree with this suggestion, however it should be any time on T team rather than alive only as many others have suggested. If people use AFK macros or +right/left then a kick or half hour full ban would work to keep them from doing it again.

For the other suggestion, slaying for short 15 min bans seem unnecessary, at least for accidental FKs or camping secret (unknowingly). It causes the gun issue and there's no real "punishment" or effect to slaying them for 15m bans, people will usually find a corner of the map and swap themselves anyway following a FK.

Upping the minimum time alive to join ct could be useful as well, 45 min isn't really a lot and you can get a basic grasp of how things work during it but definitely not the specific rules, and guidelines for CTs. On a similar note, prompting people to read and agree to the rules when they first join ct would be minor, but useful. The amount of new CTs who don't until they get CT banned a couple times is actually quite large in my experience.

Overall I think it's a great suggestion and could definitely help in getting less toxic and more knowledgeable cts.

Hey sopheyy sopheyy

Thanks for the suggestion. This is currently Under Review.

I am interested in what @MSWS suggested here:
I agree that ingame time is a good compromise between all time and alive time.

To add to the discussion. We typically see CT's who break the rules leave after being swapped and join after the timer is over. Doing this isn't against our rules but I also feel like they are not fully learning from their mistakes. I think it would be a good change to make the CT ban timer tied to in-game time. Sure that doesnt stop the person from going AFK in spectator, but at least the point is still being made.

I agree, however if it can be alive time rather than just time on the server that would be most beneficial for the reason of people setting timers and whatnot

Overall this has gotten decent feedback, just saying CS:LE might want to consider this at this point.

I used to be a fan; I’m not anymore. 15 minutes of alive time on T is at least an entire map. Could be longer, depending on games played and server state (tons of rebelling, etc.). Players should not be removed from CT for an entire map due to a simple free kill or accident. The easier fix to this is to CT ban frequent toxic players for 30-60 minutes instead of 15 minutes. In the end, who cares if they leave? They’re not ruining others experience.

Not alive time. Just make it “active time”. e.g not disconnected and not on spectator:
Possible @MSWS ?

Then you have AFK T’s. Disconnected or AFK, who cares. I’m not okay with making the AFK plug-in super aggressive just to make sure CT banned players aren’t idle.

What is wrong with AFK T's?
Also, don't see a reason to change the AFK Plugin for this.

Personally, I wouldn't care if they were active or not. A player on the server is a player that keeps our numbers up ¯\(ツ)

But what about in game server time, like for the timer to start you still have to be connected to the server?

I guess? But at that point, what difference does it make? Disconnected or in spectator, it’s the same outcome.
