antivirus recommendations!

I used inoculate AV. Works like a champ. and no pop ups or stupid things that tie down my resources like norton or crappy ones like that.
 
I have Kapersky scanning all web traffic real-time on my router, use ClamWin on my Windows workstations/servers, and ClamAV for Linux machines that need virus scan capability (Kapersky is cheap, and definitely worth it, the other two are free). That combination works out excellently for me :).

oh btw AVG cant even compete with NOD32. google comparisons, look at the test results.

AVG is good if you arent going to pay. But if you are willing to pay, norton, mcaffee, and ESET should be all you consider.

i use avg on desktop and kapersky on laptop.. both work really well but of course i pay for the kapersky one.. but i also got a really good deal on when i bought the laptop :D

and ive read that if u dont have a minimum of 3gigs ram kapersky will bog down your puter real bad
 
(Please note that the following doesn't really have any statistical grounds and I'm too damn lazy to look anything up, so whatever graphs may exist to prove otherwise, I am pretending they don't exist.)

Kaspersky is my personal favorite. I've done just about every free program available and of course Norton and similar programs, but Kaspersky is the simplest, most secure, most frequently updated (from a database standpoint), and least memory-intensive of all. And even if I do want to turn it off for a bit to get some extra memory, it's as simple as pausing the protection or exiting as a whole.

It gives me no fuss, ever, let's me do whatever I want with it, and I hardly even notice it running. And having used it on two computers, one of which previously had virus trouble from hell through the years, neither has had issue since.
 
i only use CA antivirus hasnt given me a single problem :P very low memory usuage and hasnt gave me a single problem since i got it in 2007 :)
 
i use Microsoft Security Essentials, Microsoft just released it and its not as much of a resource hogging tank like Norton or McAfee.

I have it installed on my PC with Windows 7 and so far it works great! It also replaces Windows Defender.

The free Avira AntiVir version served me well for a couple of years now, so I switched to the highest version, the Premium Security Suite and so far it's really good to use and I'd recommend it to everybody, though it does need more system power than other products.
 
I would reccomend kaspersky. Active scanning, and the problem with avg is it gives too many false negatives that Kaspersky picks up. Examples are: The Windows media ActiveX remote code execution flaw.
 
I personally use Norton on my laptop and AVG & Ad-Aware on my desktop.

I dislike Norton, It messes with to many things that it doesnt need to mess with.

I have never had any problems with AVG or Ad-Aware, anything that AVG doesnt get like spyware Ad-Aware gets... Best thing is, both Ad-Aware and AVG are Free.

and right as i start to read this, the radio is talking about it!
talk about trippy.
but anyways,
I use AVG 9.0 and its good. no viruses yet.
