Buying a Gaming PC

This might be somewhat unpalatable, but you can probably find an old school CRT monitor on craigslist for free pick up somewhere in your area. At the most they'll be under $10. If you really want to get this computer up and running, but don't want to shell out for the monitor at first, I'd suggest going that way.

The image still likes fine, and as long as you get one capable of supporting 1600 x 1200 you should be ok.

You can rock a CRT for free until you save up the paper for a nice 23" Samsung or something.

what games are you going to be playing, and at what resolutions etc

because here is another 600 build including OS, if you don't need an OS thats basically the same price as a monitor...so it could work for you too

if you're on such a budget you really need to know where to cut - but in that thread i mention a micro mobo/case, that isn't necessary you can most definitely go full if wanted/needed. i just personally dislike having some god ugly massive led filled stupid thing sitting in my house

I made my own computer. It works perfect. I spented around 600 euro on it.

CPU: 550Watt OCZ Fatil1ty :P
GPU: Sapphire HD 4870 1GB DDR5
RAM: 2GB in Dual channel
Case: Antec 900 II (2)
CPU: AMD athlon x2 64 2.21GHz overclocked to 2.5 Ghz

Some people say you most not buy a home-made pc. But mine never has problems:P
(btw is dont sell it:P)

i personally don't like that build - for the same price processor you can get an athlon ii 250 which would be way faster than that thing - that grahpics card won't last you long depending the games you want to play, if only CSS then it should do ok and that motherboard is pretty expensive for what you get

So what build do you suggest I get? And what other parts do I need if I buy the other build? (The first one I suggested)

I will make you a NewEgg wishlist. It'll be 650 or less, and it will allow you to play all games on high, with high antialising, and all that stuff. You will get super high fps too! The case and everything comes seperate, but it's very simple to put together a computer, and it comes with instructions too. Tell me if you want the NewEgg wishlist, because I'm not making it if you don't want it.

Could you make one for me? It has to be under $600 though and I can take anything from my old computer.

StrongBad, first of all great name! lol. Secondly, i would personally like to see the wishlist if you still have the time to produce one!

Get a cheap CRT off craigslist, and go with this build, imo. It is much more up to date than the others you've posted.

COMBO: Phenom II 720 + Gigabyt 770 AM3 Motherboard $188.89 - $10 MIR

COMBO: Sapphire 1GB 5770 + Antec Earthwatts 650W Power Supply $209.98

Corsair XMS2 4GB RAM $75 - $15 MIR

HEC Cheapo Case $35

WD Black 500GB Hard Drive $70

LG DVD SATA Drive $28

Total=$606.93
Total+Shipping=$614.49
Total+Shipping-MIR=$589.49
Wow, thats really nice for the price.

Yeah, just find some extra money.. or just buy a cheap monitor somewhere. Monitors usually arent' factored in when you talk about buying a computer, since they add a lot of price, and most people already have a monitor.

Thanks! And, OP, if you can re-use a case, hard drive, and dvd drive, that leave $130 in my build for a monitor!

would be a good buy

BTW, I will only be playing stuff like CSS & TF2 on this comp. But I would like to run those on high at 100+ fps
