This was posted in a different thread - but I'd like it to be more visible for all to read.
Since the houses have closed, we've tried to give everyone a chance for closure. That meant that we did not enforce the removal of house tags immediately following the removal of houses.
Since the houses closed nearly a year ago, there are almost as many members of eGO who have never known them, as there are members who were part of a house. I posted after the houses shut down that leadership would be directed to pay more attention to promoting people who did NOT wear house tags. Since then, it has become a standard thing to check when looking for possible promotees.
Here are things that we check when adding members to the promotion list:
1) MAUL verification (you have no idea how many potentials aren't verified)
2) Server Activity
3) MAUL history (demotions, Leadership notes)
4) Application date (as opposed to forum join date)
5) Forum Activity (2 posts in application thread = not active member)
6) Last visit to forum (Over a few weeks, and it's useless to promote)
7) In game name (Must match forum ID, no house tags, no inappropriate changes)
8) Vent Activity. (If you're never in Ventrilo, we do notice)
Simply put - we are trying our hardest to foster a unified eGO community. The houses served their purpose, but were causing strife within the community. Because of the "territorial" confrontations and cliques that were created by the houses, and the use of house tags, it seems only logical to promote members of the community who accept that houses no longer exist.
