Insurgency...what more can be said about this sweet little piece of gaming gold, that hasn't already been said before? It's one of the best realistic squad-based first person shooters you might not have played yet! It's free, it's fun, and all 3 of our servers are in the top 10 for public servers (with our Dust2 Server currently sitting at the number 1 spot)! So, what's holding you back?

If you haven't had a chance to play yet, please feel free to join us on our servers. The challenge may be difficult at times, and maybe even a bit daunting. If you've tried the game before, and just find it a bit too difficult and frustrating to play, then feel free to attend one of our first-come/first-serve Boot Camp or Sunday School sessions. Dates for these events can be located in the Upcoming Events section of the website. We can make sure that you understand the basic fundamentals of Small Unit Tactical Combat, and even have a good time learning the tactics along the way!

If you're interested, please feel free to download the Insurgency game through your Steam application (Store > Mods > Insurgency > Download Game). And...if you've been undecided on giving the game a try, what do you have to lose?..It's free! :p I look forward to seeing any new members on the servers. Remember, server IP information can be found under Player Rankings (on the left hand panel) > Insurgency (click View Stats). Please come join us, even if you don't plan to stay with the Division...you might find the game to be more fun than you ever expected ^^.

Indeed Insurgency brings some things to the table a lot of players are not used to:

1. The game does not employ the "death cam" thereby, unless you have quick eyes, you have no idea who killed you.

2. There is no such thing as "I'll do that" - E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G is done as a team.

3. Medics don't exist - PERIOD. No health packs either

4. Weapons are more accurate
a. sniper rifles sway/move around
b. different bullet sizes do different amounts of damage
c. range effects accuracy

5. NO HUD. the game forces you to be very dependent on Iron sights.

There are more things I could disscuss but these are the main points to know before diving into the realm of INS. If you would like any more info - send me a pm or add me on steam.

I'd thought I'd go the extra mile, and find a decent and informative website on the game and it's mechanics for those who are uninitiated with the world of Insurgency (giantbomb.com's Insurgency Info). This site also explains one of my favorite features of the game, the Class system. Like many other squad-based tactical MMO's, Insurgency features a Class system where your current class determines your weapon layout.

Unlike many of these games, though, the individual Cells/Squads in Insurgency only offer a set layout of Classes. This means that you aren't going to encounter a team solely comprised of RPG's/Grenadier's, but rather a well rounded team of mixed classes. How does this effect game play, you're asking? Well, this causes each Cell/Squad to find a balance between their available classes and forces each team (Marines/Insurgents) to use teamwork in finding the best combination of classes for the various situations provided. This may seem, at times, to be a downside...after all, what happens if the class you want to play is filled? It can be a bummer to some. But think of it this way, this basically forces the opportunity upon you to learn another class, and to then become proficient with that class as well. This can lead to a very balanced player, who can dominate no matter which class he/she plays. In fact, many of the best players I've encountered so far fare well regardless of what class they're playing, since they have to adjust their play style based on which classes are available.

So, I place this challenge upon you, the gamer: Can you master each of the classes provided, and dominate the eGO Insurgency servers? Your destiny is in your hands, will you lead your team to greatness as a Militant/Sergeant? Will you storm the enemy lines as a Rifleman? Will you provide covering fire as a Support/Sniper/RPG/Grenadier unit? The choice is yours to make, but the possibilities are endless.

Another great feature of this game is the Squad Leader and Commander functions. You can receive promotions to these positions based upon your performance in game. The Commander is a key player in any match, with the ability to call in crucial reinforcements when your reinforcement count is Depleted, which can lead to ultimate victory for your team. With all these features, and many that we haven't even mentioned yet, it's a wonder that you aren't joining us yet in the most epic struggle for control in the Middle East! I implore you, please join us and experience the fun and edge-of-seat gameplay that is Insurgency.

I love INS. I recommend giving it a try...i mean if you don't like it you didn't pay for it so you don't lose anything. :)

One time when I was playing INS, I was like "wow."

'Nuff said, come join us.

The Yeti has spoken!@#

ive tried it a few times. but i really suck and rage quit most of the times :P used to crosshair, HUD, etc. but if i wasnt used to cs it would be a game i would always play!

I tried it a few times, and I'm sorry to say that I hated it. I couldn't figure out how to change weapons or what I assumed was a class, and I couldn't find any enemies. The second I stepped out of spawn though, I just dropped dead because there is absolutely no warning. In my opinion, the game is made too realistic to the point where a person can camp indefinitely.

Well Bandgeek, you're always welcome to sit in on a Boot Camp or Sunday School session :D. I believe rtdriver teaches the Sunday School training sessions, not sure on Boot Camp. Boot Camps are held every Thursday from 20:00 - 21:00 EST, and Sunday Schools are held at the same time every Sunday. They basically go over the various fundamentals to increase survivability and efficiency. Believe me, it was a challenge from me to come over to this game too (my score reflects it, after being gone a year lol)...I played Battlefield 2142 religiously for a while, and the mechanics were so overwhelming at first that it was a bit...daunting. I haven't attended a Boot Camp or Sunday School yet...I just learn and adapt through playing long hours, but I hear they're quite helpful. I may even attend tonight's Boot Camp, if I'm not busy in a match on the servers lol.

Artinz: Fair enough, to be honest. The high realism is a bit of a challenge for some. Like I suggested to Bandgeek though...if you'd like to give the game another try sometime, feel free to attend a Boot Camp or Sunday School session. I've been told it helps survivability drastically, and it's taught by some rather...interesting, but fun, folks :p. We just don't want people to be turned off to the game on the first play through or two. It is quite a bit more challenging than most FPS's, and that can frustrate players quickly. However, if you can become comfortable with the gameplay mechanics, I really do feel that it can be a very rewarding game. There's nothing like turning a corner and literally jumping as you get tagged by an enemy you can't even see yet...it gets the adrenaline pumping.

I also want to note, before anyone thinks we're trying to draw people from the other Divisions permanently that that is not our intention. I'm simply doing this to raise awareness for this game, as we do have people from other Divisions that play on ours occasionally. I just simply want to make people aware of what the game is all about, and how accessible it is as long as you own any Source based game (that's right, you don't need HL2...any Source game will do).

lol yeti.... Ya guys/girls if you want to give INS another chance feel free to add me to your friends and ask for help. Im willing to teach what i know. Rtdriver does a bootcamp that teaches you how to use each and every gun. And we have sunday school which teaches teamwork on a different map.

INS is somewhat confusing for the first hour or two, but it is really easy to learn. Feel free to stop by the INS division vent channels, there will be a member willing to help you get on your feet.

Also, what was up with the menu? Seems like the mouse didn't match what you wanted to click on...

Sometimes what looks like it should be a button is only a cool design. It can be really frustrating until you get used to it, and someone needs to slap INS_Dev around until they make an easier GUI.

Now, if you're talking about when you click on a class and you get assigned another one, that's because it doesn't update instantaneously from other player input. If somebody else takes the class before you could select it the game usually just pushes you into a random class.

I guess what I'm saying is the whole game is something that takes to time to learn to love.

I'm talking about the menu, when I mouse over the words, and click, it ends up clicking a different option than the one you want.

I tried INS and loved it! Granted it does take some getting used to coming from CS:S, but I like it alot. Even though im not in the division I have befriended a pet rock and Epic Fail and it's great to get to work as a team.

Hm...I've never had that issue Artinz. It may be an issue with your specific install of Insurgency, but I don't see how that would be effected by a bad install. I'll keep an eye out, and see if I notice anything similar to that though, and let Spielmann know about it...perhaps it's just a UI tweak they need to do on the main menu.

I installed the first time and there was that problem, then I tried to play it, any it didn't go so well, so I uninstalled it. I reinstalled it, and the problem is still there.

INS is really hard to get used to, but it's great when you know what you're doing.

I must be the only person who ever had beginner's luck at this game; I haven't been able to do well since. I suppose I'll have to try again soon.
