Star Trek Online

The most recent trailer that showed the Klingons actually made the gameplay and graphics look worse and on par with Star Wars Galaxies a game very much its senior.

I too am thinking about pre-ordering from Amazon for the Borg Bridge Officer. Plus for me its easier to have a physical copy all things considered.

The Liberated Borg would be cool, and I am also curious how many people actually buy a life time subscription. I mean it's a good deal if you're going to be playing the game for more than 16 months.

Again, for eGO's getting this game let's make sure we're in the same server/fleet stuff however they set that up once it gets going!
 
Duce quit being my friend to play Star Trek Online. He emailed me a break up letter saying he had no time left for me :(

We actually won't hafta worry about who's on what server. Cryptic is using an EvE-like approach where everyone is on a single server but making use of instances so all it takes to meet up w/ anyone, whether it be friend IRL or someone from eGO is to find them on ur friend list, see what instance they're in, and switch to said instance and "poof" we're all there. Then it's just a matter of meeting at whatever piece of content you're all going to enjoy. :)

It also makes it a lot easier to coordinate by jumping into a group b/c then you'll see exactly which sector or space and what instance of it any of the group members are curently in. Thank god you can invite someone to group no matter where they are.
 
Sissy, i have barely had any lag issues while i've been in the server.

I picked a science track for my character, the USS Victoria (the name of my ship that was assigned by my old Bridge Commander fleet, i decided to keep it for the beta) has already engaged in combat with the orions & the klingons and am pretty happy with the space combat portion of the game. The ground combat portion still needs work, but looks like it could really be nice. i think i'll be pleased with the final product
 
I've been playing Closed beta & Open beta for a bit. A lot of equipment seems to be PvP centric, meaning you can only purchase them with Bronze Medals after pvping. Even if you lose, you are awarded some Bronze medals so go out there and PvP. Been mostly doing the ground PvP. I need to find a vent room I can use.

I'm usually in Station K7 in the neutral zone PvPing and looking at some equipment.

I ordered the Amazon Collector's Edition. I'm thinking of also purchasing the Target regular edition, the Direct 2 Drive & maybe the steam version.

I already paid for the Lifetime Subscription.

I've been a huge fan, but I wouldn't say (full trekkie) since TNG. My Wife took me to the tour last year near the queen mary. :D
 
Wow, you've spent a pretty penny lol. I'm sure it will be nice to be a liberated borg with a borg bridge officer lol.

Thanks for the tips Omniblast, I'll be checking out some more PvP I think.

If I'm in-game and in our vent you should find me, I'd love to soak in whatever tips you have to offer, not to mention I'm a huge TNG nerd so I'm sure we'll get along fine.

Sure, I sorta use the EGO's vent for temporary communications with my friend now, we were thinking of starting a Fleet called, "The Collective" or Collective Fleet. Where we would only have Lifetime membership people join with their Borgs. hahah. Maybe not. That would be too snobby.

Anyways. last night they updated with a big patch. It fixed a lot of issues I was having with the game. Namely the map functions work better now. A lot of graphical fixes to the UI.

If there's any questions you want to ask about STO, feel free. I'm not a expert on the subject yet, but I hope to be. I think I'm going to go buy a Cruiser next. I have all this energy($$$) and don't really spend it on anything. *shrug*

All the really cool stuff to get, you get it from either missions or PvP.

WOW .. ever more instancing......

No thanks, i cannot stand instancing.. totally ruins the experience for me.
 
I got my pre-order done last night! They did a lot of work on the latest patch: smoothed out the UI, graphics seem to run a bit better, they raised the cap up.

For those who are going to play this, has there been any talk of forming an eGO fleet there?

Yeah I played today for quite some time after patching. I'm very impressed with what they did. Also the bugs that I've found and reported seem to be taken care of. Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking credit for that, rather I am glad to see they are fixing the problems.

I just added you on Steam so we don't clutter up the thread (lol) but I am curious as to how practical and useful it is to have a Science ship. Is it beneficial to have one? I like to play support roles but at this point I'm wondering how much impact it will have over choosing a cruiser or escort. I know about the extra science console I'm curious as to what else it can do.

Science is extremely powerful right now. You get an large number of defensive skills to help mitigate damage and then they added another aft weapon slot.

Polarize Hull + Brace for impact = beam and torpedo neutralization

Jam Targeting Sensors - 1st tier = aoe confuse, 2nd tier turns off their targeting abilities so they're pretty much helpless for 18 or so seconds

Sensor Scan buffs you so you can see cloaked ships better and makes you take 40% less dmg for 30 secs.

Subnucleonic Beam is a skill interrupt + puts their skills on cooldown


Tachyon Beam = shield drain

and there are plenty more to mix and match.

Throw in High yield torpedoes or Torpedo spread and emergency energy to shields and depending on the weapon setup, you can do massive dmg.



...and the server goes down right as I go to buy my Commander ship :[ :[ :[

I've PM'd a request to a council member for info on how to approach this along with an idea of what level to take it to. Our biggest hurdle is level of interest.

My suggestion is if you are interested then subscribe to this post and keep the chatter up.
Don't *Bump* as its annoying, but if you have questions or found something new you want to share then post it here!

Yeah I'm all in for this idea!

I just want to point out that while it would be AWESOME if eGO let us do an official fleet, if not that's ok. We can still make a fleet together and even if it doesn't have the eGO title it can still have the eGO spirit.

I hope to reach Lt. Commander 1 tonight (yeah I'm slow I know) and try a science vessel out.
