I don't really get all the direct hit hate. I do pretty well with it - the only class that regularly kills me is a fully overhealed enemy soldier with a pocket medic. The only glaring weakness is vs. spies. Pretty good all around. I don't know how good it would be for official competitive play, but meh I don't care about that anymore.

I like it if I am not using the Buff Banner and if I am playing in cramped environments.

This is because you can actually aim. It actually says in the description of the weapon "For those few soldiers who actually aim with their rockets, we give them this." Yes, noobs will think it's better because of the extra damage without realizing they aren't hitting anything so they aren't really doing damage. I typically switch between the two depending on map. If you're playing Mesa, the DH is pretty easy to use, but for most Valve maps it's a lot harder.

As for the spy, that does frustrate me a lot as I spy check frequently as soldier. The regular rockets are much better suited for spamming.
