I'll edit out the sniper rifles from the BAR server.
My objection is not toward the inclusion (or lack thereof) of sniper rifles, but that the command destroys the balance that the game was designed for. The maps are made for teams consisting of four sergeants, two support guns, two marksmen, two grenadiers, an engineer and five riflemen against four militants, five riflemen, two support gunners, two RPGs, two snipers, and a sapper. 16 AKSs/M4s is every bit as game-breaking as 16 Snipers.
I love the convenience just as much as the next user, but I appreciate what the game was built for, too, and the game should take precedence over personal desire. Isn't that why we have that whole teamwork thing going on? I'm sure we would all love to be able to Rambo every map and win it for our team single-handedly, but that's not what this game is for.
EDIT: Read BAS, not BAR. Whoops. Sorry, Hammer. I thought that the thread was entirely about what we plan to do about BAS, not BAR. Do whatever you want to BAR (within reason), but leave BAS vanilla. If any changes are going to be made to BAS, make it to the map rotation.
If it helps populate the servers , then I would use it.
Frankly, an empty server deters users much more than the presence of !guns. I sat in BAS today for more than three hours sending out invitations periodically, and not a single eGO member joined me, save for Megabit Gatorlord, who played for a few minutes, then left to play on a server with people in it. Population peaked at six players. Only a few players stayed for a whole round, much less a single map. I got some nice one-on-one time with a newbie and showed him the ins-and-outs of Haditha and Buhriz, but he's the only player that I can remember playing for more than a map.
EDIT: Forgot to mention Vent. I was in Ventrilo the entire time with my comment saying that I was in BAS. Last I remember checking it was "Two hours later, and I'm still the only one in BAS! Help!", or something along those lines.
EDIT 2: Correction. "Two hours later, still the ONLY PLAYER IN BAS. And you guys wonder why it's empty... Join join join!"
