This was why I included the word possibly in my statement. The French Connection, Ronin, C'?tais un Rendezvous and the Italian Job(1969), all rank right up there with Bullitt in my book for best car chase scene.

It's a brilliant blend of atypical story telling and stunning dialog, the film is endlessly quotable. The quality of the film is more than enough for me to recommend this, but it's the cultural significance of the movie that makes watching it almost mandatory viewing.

Hey, I just searched through the Original Post list, and I didn't see North Face(2008) anywhere, so I guess you haven't rated it yet.

Haven't seen it yet. The movie hasn't really gotten a release state side.

Review: Gran Torino has a plot that's been done before, the plot of the older generation passing down the torch to the younger generation. This movie is suppose to be the swan song for Eastwood's acting career and he does an amazing job with his role. The film is constructed to be an audience pleaser and does just that.

Story: Woman takes her daughter to Silent Hill...all hell breaks loose.

Review: Stylistically sound, Silent Hill looked like it was going to be the film to beat the curse of the bad video game adaptation. Unfortunately this film, style isn't everything. The primary issue with the film is the plot. Silent Hill, the gaming series, is predominantly known for having deep and complex plots. Usually where the protagonist battles the physical manifestation of their personal demons. This movie on the other hand doesn't have any of that battling personal demons stuff. In fact what plot they have isn't all that great and has something to do with a cult, but none of it is really explained all that well. I guess I kind of enjoyed this movie, it's not particularly good or scary, but I managed to squeeze some entertainment value out of this misfire.

Story: Two of the least exciting cops in the NYPD go after a multi-billionaire who might be embezzling a crap load of money.

Review: Oh the buddy cop comedy, I have no idea why they're still making these. Seriously what was the last good one, Rush Hour, that was like twelve years ago. I guess Hot Fuzz was probably the last good buddy cop comedy, but hey it was poking fun of the genre...just like this movie. Yeah, this film is kind of a parody of the buddy cop films and for the most part it's funny. That's right this is actually a funny film, it's not a good film...but it's funny and that's all that counts.

Review: Oh god this movie really sucks...why the hell would anyone make this movie. Well I think I sort of know why it was made, this movie came out after Meet the Parents and Analyze This which both made Robert De Niro a comedic lead. Now we all know that Robert De Niro as a comedic lead was just a gimmick in the two movies that I just listed and that he shouldn't have casted again in a comedy, but apparently he needed money or something. Also being in a non-animated movie with Eddie Murphy in the early 00s was just a stupid idea.

Review: This is probably the worst buddy cop movie to come out in the last decade or so. I seriously can't think of anything more bottom of the barrel than this movie, maybe the third Rush Hour film...but still, my god. Last decade was really bad for Ford and this movie didn't help any. So yeah, avoid this film like the plague.

Story: Michael Gordon Peterson always wanted to make a name for himself and with his moniker Charles Bronson he did make a name for himself; as the United Kingdom's most dangerous prisoner.

Review: Standing in stark contrast to Refn's minimalistic Valhalla Rising, Bronson is stylistic and darkly funny biopic about UK's most infamous criminal. The tale is told via narrations by the protagonist as he talks about his past. The character of Bronson is a very charismatic one and you can't help but like him even though he is a violent sociopath. The films success is mostly due to Tom Hardy, who plays Bronson. Hardy does a spectacular job in his role and actually does one of the most amazing performances of the last decade. This is an amazing film and one that needs a wider audience, easily one of the most underrated films of the last decade.

Story: A full frontal assault on the MPAA

Review: A documentary about the internal rating system of the film industry. First a bit of history...I can't remember if they covered this in the film, but chances are they did. Back when the film was becoming a large entertainment force the federal government decided to chime in and see if they could regulate the content of movies. The industry made the decision to self regulate and formed the MPAA, which censored films basically to keep congress from doing the same. This is pretty much what happened to all forms of entertainment, from music to comics to video games and yes even in some states they put content ratings on books. As time moved on the MPAA became more and more relaxed in their rating system, but there was one thing that remain a no-no for the industry; sex. For some reason the MPAA feels that sex is something to be looked down upon, which depending on your morality is either a good thing or a bad thing. That is basically what this film delves into, where is the line the MPAA draws and should they be drawing that line. This isn't the best of documentaries and it's pretty far from being un-biased. Though there is enough here for a discussion starter, so mission accomplished I suppose.

ya its interesting, i actually saw this movie by accident. cant remember where i saw it. i thought it was some kinda movie based on charles bronson in some ridiculous movie bout himself, but it just happened to be this 1. its amazing how this movie managed to keep my attention, even tho there were some slow parts. i would actually call for a 9/10 because of the slow areas, but thats my opinion.

Story: Four American military prisoners escape their MPs and make a mad dash for Switzerland.

Review: Having next to nothing in common with Tarantino's other than it takes place during WWII, the film comes off as a mixture of the Dirty Dozen and the A-Team. It's a film that is part of the sub-genre called Macaroni Combat, basically the WWII equivalent of a Spaghetti Western. Anyway, the film is fun, campy, and well worth watch.

Story: "There are over 550 million firearms in worldwide circulation. That's one firearm for every twelve people on the planet. The only question is: How do we arm the other 11?"

Review: From the brilliant mind that brought us Gattaca and the Truman Show comes the tale of an unscrupulous arms dealer who tries etch out a living for himself, avoid interpol, and keep his wife in the dark about his profession. The film is actually pretty close in tone to Thank You for Smoking, which came out the same year. For the most part, the tale is well told, but runs out of steam near the end. Cage is great in the role and manages to make the character likable. The supporting cast does a good job too, especially Eamonn Walker, who plays the psychotic yet charismatic dictator of Liberia. In comparison to Niccol's other films, the two I mentioned, this one seems like the runt of the litter. Still it's a film worth watching.
