I love how no one is talking about the Arc Welder or Hammer. You don't think those could be new updated weapons? I think the new melee (if one at all) will be that hammer, and possibly an arc welder to replace the pistol.

Don't we already have a hammer like weapon now?

EDIT: To give further credence to the whole "we're getting new buildables" thing, Notice that the failed 'repair node' idea is on the desk behind the old sentry, meaning that that's where he's stacked the failed ideas.

Having new buildings would change the game drastically I think. Whatever they do its gotta be perfect or it could be a disaster. I hope they don't make an offensive engineer. Engineers are supposed to be defensive, setting up bases; it would upset the balance.

Actually when I saw the video I thought maybe the welder would be a new way to upgrade the buildings. But now the hammer seems like it may be as well.

Human Robot thing, some say Iron Man (ish). In the second link posted by DRaGZ (http://www.teamfortress.com/119/steam.html) it says "IT IS A MARVEL". Iron Man was made by Marvel Comics.

Well i guess that IS possible, but i'll just wait until the actual update before i get hopes up...
The Blowtorch and Hammer on the other hand...

maybe Blowtorch replaces shotty(or pistol) and repairs much faster than wrench, but cannot build and requires sacrifice of shooty/ pistol power.

The Hammer may be its counterpart, for it cannot repair, but instead builds faster. replacing the wrench makes that no big choice, that is, unless you don't have the blowtorch to repair your building...

and maybe, just maybe, to really show the value of those, the robot/new building(s) will take longer to build, or maybe have similar health to a sentry but less health from repairs...

who knows? i don't so u probably just wasted your time, but throwing out random insights... might as well.

My money is on something different. My bet is that he's going to get something that replaces his building buildings, and his shotgun and pistol (can only use his wrench with it). Sure this sounds like a dumb idea that would change the game completely. But I'll be the one laughing when I'm right and the Engineer is showing off his brand new BFG 9000.

I think Valve is probably teasing/referencing Ironman over actually putting it in but a robot may not be a bad idea. Remember, we now have a AI system for multiplayer which is decent (decent being used lightly) so you never know

Okay 2 things:

i) In the video, in the FOREGROUND there is an object which is totally shadowed which appears to be a robot body without arms.
ii) In the steam ad, the dice are 1 and 1 AKA snake eyes. What if the update brings us a way for the engie to remotely monitor equipment or an area. Think about a high health buildable which simply let's him see what's going on.
