Pyro Changes Coming?

I hope its good, but ive got no idea what they may do. Wish the engi update would come out first though.

Well they said they got a lot of feedback and have taken that into account, so that's a mixed blessing. It means they're taking into account what everyone's saying, the problem is that that includes the whiners. I'm just a little worried because they're widening the gap between skilled Pyros and me. I kind of liked that Fancy vs Nasty update, I'm going to have to keep checking that now.

Considering Valve gave the demoman the eyelander and the soldier the equalizer. (Both weapons are OPed on already amazingly strong classes) Who knows what valve will think of next.
The pyro might recieve a massive buff on his/her current weapon OR *crosses fingers* a new weapon?

I hope they tune down the airblast ratio again, that thing is a massive pain =S

I hope they give him the ability to use his airblast to do a mini rocket jump. That would be fun ;)

Something longer range as the primary.... I know you already have the flare gun but i don't like it.

Another flamethrower would be nice.

Or another secondary, to replace the shotty and flare gun.

Sounds like you haven't seen videos like this. Watch 10 seconds in (if not the whole thing).

Hopefully, any pyro who holds down W+M1 for more than 10 seconds will lose 2hp per second and deal 50% less damage to enemies...

Make continuous use of the flame thrower burn through more ammo. Or give the Backburner some moar use, besides the extra damage.

Yea, this is interesting, i wonder what they will implement.

I still don't get why the flamethrower is said to have been nerfed...

Airblasts are 20 ammo and give minicrits.

They might have lowered the rate you can spam airblasts, but in reality you shouldn't been spamming airblasts...

And while people are complaining about damage, most pyros should use the puff and sting technique anyway. (flamethrower+airblast+axtinguisher)

Um they increased the rate you can spam airblasts, so now it isn't as bad an idea to spam Airblasts...

the ones complaining it was nerfed are the W+M1s and the Guys that expect to die but take a couple enemies with them from the afterburn.

I main as a Pyro (albeit a mediocre one) and i for one say that the last update was OPed. not super bad, but still to the point of becoming an annoyance.

Anyways I think that Valve will probably take this halfway, maybe even releasing multiple "updates" for the pyro for a few days to see what works.
but I believe that they'll:

1) keep the current "nerfed" direct flame damage
2) increase the time of afterburn to longer than it ever was before (12 seconds at most)
3) decrease the speed of airblasts a little, maybe enough to BARELY reflect all a soldiers rockets, but seriously, putting people into orbit with 3 consecutive airblasts is ridiculous
4) restore 25 ammo airblast
5) give backburner slightly more damage to buildings, to make it a better choice for you circle-strafers out there.
6) make reflected flares do crits instead of mini-crits. It's no like it'll change gameplay much.

Those are just what I think should happen anyways. I'm sure we all have ideas but we'll just have to wait for Valve before we see them. Also, if you see any flaw in the balance of the points i just made above then feel free to post it; i love getting edumacated!

tl;dr: read the numbers and tell me what u think.

EDIT: also, my #2 may be a bit excessive, but basically just increase afterburn time... maybe not by that much though.
