The issue with the new Medal of Honor game is you'll be playing as the Taliban against the US military (and allies), which is an ongoing situation for the Military. They'll think it's detrimental to morale, and conducive to hostile behavior towards its forces. Other games differ because they aren't as current (or as widely-viewed on) as what the latest MoH game will be. Historical FPS can get away with fighting against the Germans, Koreans/Chinese, and Vietnamese from WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War. Some of the other games use current situations and problems in today's world to create a false futures (Modern Warfare is about a fake Middle Eastern country, with a fake issue involving Russia). It's about context when it comes to censorship, and having US/British Forces vs Afghanistan Taliban is too close to being true (because it is true) to avoid censorship by the military.
Soldiers who still want to play the game (because they know its a game, and hopefully a fun one at that) can still get the game by A) Going off base at their active duty station, B) Having friends/family send them a CARE package with it inside (or something similar), or C) Return from R&R with the game.
