If you look up "Counter Strike: Source Beta" on Steam, it will give you a page to it that tells you what they changed.

CS:S Beta is where they test the new updates. They test them there and then once its ready, they launch the update on normal CS:S. This way, updates are "cleaner" =P

Our Advisor Beta has dabbled in game development for some time now, and he decided his first big project would be to make an exact copy of CS:S, except fixing some gitches, bugs, and possible hacking issues. He then titled it "CS:S Beta" because he likes his name alot.

Hey, they did not change anything again. The CSS beta was basically created to prevent Valve from releasing recent changes that may be still buggy. In other words, a bunch of people will play CSS BETA when it updates, and will report bugs to valve, once valve fixes everything, they then release it to us. Hope that helped.

I couldn't contribute to this thread, so Ill Legend removed my post.

[Legend]

CS:S has a "beta" client so that valve can test major changes before they go live onto the servers. If you own CS:S, you have the beta.
