Have your say in the Events Program

Hey everyone,

One of the main complaints I hear about the Events is that we are currently stuck in a cycle of the same events every week. Don't get me wrong, I feel that our Event Coordinators are doing an awesome job and I really value each one of them.

I too have noticed that Wednesday Night Fight, Late Night Fight and other events all seem to blur together. Please exclude any issue with the plugins/addons at this point as the weekly CS:S updates have introduced compatibility issues that are out of our control.

If you could change one thing about the events schedule, what would it be? What kind of new event would you suggest that you feel would be popular and exciting for you? If it is a particular map that would make events more exciting for you, what map is it? You can choose from the above poll options, or you can mark other and leave your comment as a post.

Please be as honest as possible, so I can do what is needed to be done to change the events program for your benefit.

I think each weeks events need to mix up a bit. Like one week jail night is wednesday, next week its saturday, etc. We need a better rotation. I do like that theres LOTS of events though, means everyday i can attend something cool

I would personally like to see more competitive/scrim style kind of events, I know we host the Last Man Standing and Dog Tag Scrims, but I would love to see more of them implemented in the event schedule.

Agreed, Ladder / League type of events are fun.

Right and I would love to let you guys play Last Man Standing all the time whenever you wanted, but I also want to keep that achievement that is earned from winning it special. I think that is something we have always tried to do.

Achievements are meant to be special, and should stay that way.


I would like to see some sort of competitive scrim that replaced FBG sunday. I would like to also do another dust-off type event, i REALLY enjoyed that one, on INS and TF2

im all for competitive events and similar games, they are the best and in fact that is the main reason that i sign up for them all the time. However, I feel that right now we are doing pretty well with competitive events they have a good turn out.

I feel that we need some more road trips to experience the best of eGO and all of its divisions. I mean wouldnt it be loads of fun for CS:S go into a DOD or TF2 or insurgency server, and just have fun trying to figure things out. Not to mention we could go into different non-eGO servers and have a blast and experience other things that are out there (while following eGO rules of course).

For example i like to play Hide N' Seek in CS:S every once in a while, heck that is some of the most fun that I have in CS:S with eGO members im sure that would be a ball

Yes I like the idea of visiting other divisions. I think things have become very closed boxed and run of the mill lately.

Well I do like the idea of mods, but with the constant CS:S updates it might be a bit much. If you know a stable HnS mod send me a PM. Preferably something that can be turned off.

Polar Panic and Buses from Hell are getting old. Buses from Hell was the map on during my first ever eGO event and I joined over a year ago..

Instead of directing everybody to the dropbox, maybe have an open thread in the forums for people to introduce maps/concepts that may be fun for events? Leadership could use feedback from the thread for more opinions!

Map suggestions:
1) Maybe some commonly found maps on other CS:S servers that eGO doesn't support? For example: de_paranesi, fy_iceworld2..
2) Personal nostalgic suggestion: cs_bloodstrike (can be found on fpsbanana) - no awps, autos, grenades allowed.

The problem with having a vote is that most people would just vote the map they're most familiar with, contributing to the cycle of same maps over and over again.

My two cents.

P.S. I've always liked the idea of roadtrips, but I've never seen one in action yet.

EDIT/UPDATE:

If a forum thread is created for new map ideas/concepts, maybe institute a format for people to use for suggestions to prevent spam like this:

"I LEIK AZTEC HERPDERP"

And replace with a formatted suggestion like:

Name of Map: de_aztec
Map size: Large
Concept: Bomb Defusal

(I'm a noob at map suggestions, so the format I used is simplistic, but you get what I mean )

I am REALLY tired right now so I apologize if I don't make any sense from this point on.

I think that we should do an event rotation which iSimon I think said, but instead of just mixing up the day of the week an event is, have a second set of events, so 1 week we could do the events we have now in the same order, and the next, a complete different set of events, then after that week switch back to the first set and just rotate every week. To me it would make things more interesting and not the same thing everyday of the week. Things would seem a little more special I think

Of course, we could still fit in the more special events that aren't played weekly like Dog tag Scrims, Royal rumble, LMS,etc. I hope you get what I was trying to say there.

As for maps, if I find any interesting ones or have an idea on what events could added, ill be sure to post here or send you a PM.

Personally, I would like to see more scrim events such as dog tags because it brings out the best in people when they work together to win! Although there is some fighting, we can resolve that by making captains of scrim like dog tags! I remember the first dog tag everyone worked together to loose! lol but we still had fun!

Dont keep minigame night but change maps, polarpanic gets boring after times but maps like smash maps, they are fun, specially this one (http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/123050)
