I haven't spent a dime.

I traded a name tag for a hat.

The hat for 2 hats. Those hats multiplied into 4. Then 6, then 8.. then I traded 4 hats for 8 keys. Then I had 8 hats and 8 keys, then 10 hats, then I Traded it for an unusual.

I had 1 unusual, 8 keys. Then 1 unusual, 4 keys, 3 hats. Then so on and so forth.

Then I traded my unusual for 2 unusuals. etc, etc.

You just have to know how to trade and work the market.

All in all, probably around 15 bucks. That includes buying keys (before the update to make them tradeable) and the Skull hat from the Halloween update (I used the Unusual Metal to craft my sword).

I think from this point on I am going to use the trading market scheme described above and save my money to use on games besides TF2.

I have better things to spend my money on.

Hasn't cost me anything except a few more hours dedicated to TF2.

Over $100 here. Sure, call me crazy, but I have something like 1000 hours of game play on this game, and if I was still playing WoW, that 1000 would cost me like $300. I bought the polycount pack, a few keys, one of the Halloween hats, and then a bundle of gifts. Say what you want about me spending extra money, say what you want about the store (if you honestly think that you need to buy hats and other stuff to have fun in TF2, then I can't help you), but if you were one of the 23 people in the fun server that got a free gift that day, you would be happy.

Monetary cost: 0
Cost of fun in the game: Extensive
I disklike update and store :(

I've spent no real cash in the store, and my dislike of the update really has nothing to do with the store. It's just that almost all the weapons make me not want to play TF2 anymore.

Pretty much. The Polycount pretty much killed my interest in the game. I waited a little while though, I kept my faith in Valve to fix things, but they didn't. The salt in the wounds

was when they nerfed the Rocket Jumper instead.

I don't hate the store, in fact I like it. It allows me to find items without having to die (by simply visiting the store). Would I buy anything from it? No. I'm just letting my kleptomania take over and getting all the Halloween masks that I can and idling for stuff, and my dad is finding stuff too and doesn't care too much, so I can get stuff from him too. Then I can trade/craft all I want for all I need.

Fun fact: the day the Halloween update ends is the day before Black Ops comes out. Hint hint.

But that's just me.

I think about 100$, more or less. Got 2 Unusuals out of crates, and traded one, now I have 6 legit ones and a Confetti.

i have spent...almost $20? (8 cents off)
resons: 2 keys
spent extra money on the fallowing
rocket jumper (everyone needs one)
ubersaw (i love the thing)
eternal reward (its fun :P...found one 1 and a half weeks later...)
sandvich (i found THREE of the dileious little things in the fallowing 2 weeks)
frontier justice (....no certain reson, bought last day of sentry glitch that was fixed a while ago, which i didnt know about till the last day, like when the update was released, did not use on...any server basicly lol)

ps: with the 2 keys i got, i found a vita- saw :D ..... though it isnt as fun as i thought it would be O-o" cuz now i cant randomly suicide XD lol (another reson i bought ubersaw with extra money)

pss: IM INSANE...ive spent...$1000 on a game i rarely play now? and im still spending money on it? o-o the $1000 is over a long time period 3 (or 4) years (i forgot ok? XD)... I BLAME MY LOVE FOR MMORPG'S! o-o (well i think thats what it is)... anyway.. ima stop crazying up the place more o-o

Normally I refuse to buy/play any game with an in-game store, but I made TF2 an exception since I can't live without it :P
So, the answer is none. Even though I still play TF2, I won't buy anything from it.

Sold someone a key and first unbox item they get is Stout Shako. It can happen.

eh, people pay between $10 and $15 a month to play MMO's like WOW and EVE. Would you prefer VALVE charging a monthly subscription fee, and each month awarding you with a few hats, nametags, etc...or letting some players buy stuff (helping to support a game we all enjoy?) and others, well, playing for whatever their initial invetment was? Wasn't this game on sale once for $1.99? Holy-Moly - Could you imagine playing WOW for over 2 years for only one payment of $1.99? ice_ice_baby.avi!

To answer the OP: I spent about $50 all together; mostly keys, 1description tag, and I bought someone a hat they really really really wanted and gift wrapped it for them :)
