Being able to realism only when an advisor is on would completely destroy the premise for the idea. The advisors have a lot to do already and wouldn't want to sit around just to realism on maybe even a nightly bases... using the event server would also destroy most of the rationale behind this idea...Communities build servers, not PM lists. Having a server that is realism only and not open to the public otherwise is a waste of eGO's time and resources. opening the event server to be a normal map would destroy the opportunity to events (it's not just to kick pubs off a server for an event)
Thats why I was asking if it could be opened up be a map vote server, my point was we have a server just sitting empty 75% of the time, why not open it up, maybe not to pubs, but open it up to eGO members with a generic password so that people could just get in and play a special map, like Argentan, Jagd, Switch, Palermo and others that are not as popular. Heck if an eGO member wanted to take the time, he could even pre arrange something like this on the forums. Say we'll be meeting at a specific time to play a specific map. It doesn't take away from any events and helps create some new ideas for events even maybe. eGO members will just have to be under the understanding that if an event is to begin then they will have to either leave the server, or join up to the event. Heck you might even see event turnout increase. My point was not to open the event server to the masses, but to eGO members to give them the ability to select the maps they would like to play for a short period, so we don't have a entire server sitting empty all the time.
As for realism, I don't know all the logistics behind it. I played it, it was kind of fun, but a lot of work up to playing and waiting after you die. Not very exciting for the ADD/ADHD world in which we live in. I do compare it a lot to jail, you get in, get told what to do, follow the rules, then some CT either kills you accidently or you didn't quite follow his rule fast enough, then you spend 10 mins dead watching a bunch of stupid time wasting games go on.
I had an idea similar to jail for DOD, that was a little more exciting, it was a POW camp. My idea was simple, you had two teams the allies (half the team POW's and other half a special force to help break the POW's out of camp, and the Axis were the guards. The only special rules were, POW's could not use weapons and guards could only shoot Allied Special Forces and POW's escaping, the POW's would remain in a building the Axis could not enter, but they could see into, this protected the POW's from being wrongfully killed. There would be three exit points to the map, a hidden tunnel under the camp, the front main gate, and a broken fence along the back. Allied POWs could only use weapons they had picked up off the ground or were given by Allied Special Forces. How to win, either you eliminated all the guards or all the special forces and POW's were killed or executed. So there still would be the downtime after you die, however it shouldn't be as long because there is always a constant rush to escape. I tried working with Rogue Sniper about this, and there were some challenges with it, but it was possible to work this out, with only a few rules people would have to learn.
