I have always been interested in creating maps.I have been playing PC games since i was about 7, starting on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. I just want to know what program is used to make them. Im sure they have diffrent programs for different games, but for example, CS:S, or TF2 are the main user-created maps i see. The thought just came to me and I just though I would ask.

Most of the source engine games use Source SDK. you can download it from the 'Tools' tab in your Steam Library. Head on over to the Mappers Corner for more some threads with good tutorials etc.

Not sure what the other games take. I would start if you have Source engine games with that with simple boxes and just test the waters on that.

Also, if you're making a cs:s map, do not make your first one a jail map. Make a gg or dm map first and get used to the textures. Then go on to de and cs, finally explore things such as jail/zombie escape
