Hey I'm new here. Been wondering for awhile what ISP eGO uses since they have so many servers all running flawlessly. Seems like it would at least have to be a T3.

Any answers would be awesome!

most likely they have the website hosted on a webhost where they use managed server or have an hosting plan on a shared server. i am sure most game servers are from places like Gameservers.com(i know BlOps is).

I highly doubt we use gameservers after we were not impressed with the only black ops servers being gameservers only. We do run our servers on dedicated boxes though, not buying individual server.

we have dedicated boxes in Dalis mainly. we originally had them from dominion, not sure where our boxes are nower days.

That was Deacon.

And the internet backbone our servers run on is Level 3, InterNAP, and theres one or two others that the data center is connected to. Unlike a home connection, a dedicated data center has multiple connections to make sure it doesn't loose service.

With most servers in Dallas. BC2 uses EA Servers which is not in that data center.

A T3 connection isn't that uncommon nowadays, even on home connections.

Rogue Sniper is correct. The host is SoftLayer. I moved to them after LayeredTech started playing games with pricing and quality of hosting. Upon my recommendation EGO selected them as their dedicated server provider.

Today, EGO leases most (if not all) of their servers directly from SL. They host their website with Digital Gaming eXtreme (DGXHosting). The web server is on a dedicated machine: and while configured to allow other customers, EGO is the only customer active on this box.

If you're looking for a dedicated server/website please note that SL is one of your best options; however, you will be required to patch and maintain your server. You get a lot of flexibility with the dedicated boxes, but you also take on much more responsibility. On average I deal with 4000+ security related event per month on the web server alone.

Here is a breakdown of their network:

Currently SoftLayer (SL) uses multiple 10 and 20 GB uplinks with multiple providers (Comcast, Equinix, Global Crossing, Internap, Level3, NTT America, Qwest, Telefonica, Teliasonera, Time Warner, NOTA, NYIIX)

The web server is hosted out of the DC data center.

OC-48 - 2.5 gbps
OC-192 - 9.6 gbps

Also, 10 and 20 GB speeds are not always true 10 or 20 GB. A certain amount of overhead goes into each network connection. Bottom line, even if SL doesn't have full 10 or 20 GB peering, they are still really really really frakin' fast... and yes, "frakin" is a technical term. I swear... I read it on the interwebz so it must be true.
