Nine!

the answer is 9.

6/2(1+2)
6/2(3)
YOU HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE BEGINNING!!!!!! ORDER OF OPERATIONS!!! DUH
3(3)
= 9

Depends on what math book you learned from :P

I think no matter what the parenthesis should be eliminated first, but if you just add the 1 and 2 and then go from left to right you get 9. However, you could also use the distributive property, which results in 1.

IMO, all this proves is that without specifically stating the rules/syntax, text editors are inefficient means of showing math problems haha.

Math is the universal language so shouldn't matter what book since all math should end up being taught the same in the end.

Also the answer is 9

6?2(1+2)
6?2(3)
3(3) or
3 x 3
= 9

This fine sir is right using order of operations.

It's 2 IMO.

Now that I look at it, I'm feeling 9 though.

Order of operations:

6?2(1+2)

You do the parenthesis first.

6?2(3)

Then you multiply

6?6

=

1

Okay, so I lied about being a teacher. But that's the answer!

No it's not since division and multiplication are based on the order of left to right so you do which ever comes first, in this case it would be division so you divide then multiply, not multiply then divide.

you need to distribute the parenthesis first before dividing, thats part of the P in PEMDAS

I'm so tired of seeing this question. It's like something you'd get on a 7th grade math test...the answer's obviously 9.

ok. so, since we seem to be needing input.

6/2(1+2) // Don't confuse / (division) with / for fractions- the opening specified division.

We ignore 6/2 for now, since there are parenthesis to do. Thus, we get:

(1+2) = 3.

Now, rewriting this equation gives us:

6/2(3)

However, 2(3) is the same as 2 * 3, and those parenthesis carry no importance other than a separator. Thus, its:

6/2*3 // and from left to right:

6/2 = 3 * 3 = 9.

Answer is 9.

You can get 1, but only if you assume that there is either another set of parenthesis (that weren't provided) or if you treat / as "fraction". Examples:
6/(2(1+2)) // this is the extra set of parenthesis I'm talking about- the same order comes into play if you treat / as a fraction. However, the division sign used in the original question can not be used for fractions, so... moot point. however, if the question had indeed used / instead of the division sign, I would have evaluated the equation to 1- correct in that case? maybe. But definitely the method drilled into me after calc bc.

First you find the quantum theory in the problem
Then you dissolve the main component between each problem
Finally you wrap it up with a simple vortex equation test that uses the omega function.
